Best Lid For Chin Mounted Gopro?

So I'm in the market for a new lid, preferably with a better spot to properly mount a GoPro on the chin.

My current helmet has quite a curve so I've had to botch it together with a spare piece of mounting tape. It's secure enough, but doesn't really inspire confidence that my shiny new camera isn't going to be filming the tarmac.

My first option is the Shark Speed R as it looks to have a good flat spot on the chin with a better surface area for the mount to stick to. I've yet to see one in person though so if anyone has one of these lids some feedback would be great! These go for around £230 so that's my budget really.

Anyone have other suggestions? Thanks :)

I've seen that done, but believe it or not the curves on my current lid mean theres even less options in that area than on the chin, just not enough contact for the mount pad without needing 10 arm sections to reach my chin haha

Some of our guys also bought extra 3m tape and built it up on the edges of the existing tape to better meet the face of the helmet. Like if the helmet is curved more than the curved mount, cut strips and put it along the long sides of the mount for a better hold.

I think alot of helmets these days don't make it easy for direct chin mount without some "mods" to the mount.

I have the Shoie NXR (RF1200) and the chin has a ridge right in the middle of the curve mount. I used some 2 pac style bonding putty to mould the shape closer and then used some new double sided tape. I couldn't get 3m so I just check the strength of the tape regularly.

That gives me an idea. Seeing as the mount base is just a simple bit of plastic, I might buy a small block of acrylic or similar and make my own mount to fit perfectly to the curve of my helmet's chin, slap some 3M on the back and that should be as solid as any other mount.

I run an icon airmada with the chin mount but I added a little more 3m tape to fit the curve just right. Its seen high speeds, lots of highway time, rain, etc. and it hasn't budged.

I have a friend that uses that sugru stuff and swears by it.

So, little update on this. Bought a Bell RS1 because it was on sale at over 50% off, bargain! Also got some plastic epoxy to make a mould for the 3m tape to stick to perfectly. Got a little more planning to do to figure out how its going to work, but I reckon I'll cover the area of the helmet I'm working on with clingfilm to get the curves in the mould and to make sure it doesn't glue straight to the helmet.

Does Sugru set hard? I may try that first as I imagine its less permanent/destructive as epoxy.

I have a few buddies who use sugru to mount their gopro it is apparently very solid and strong and is able to be molded to the shape
