Is Road Rage Getting Worse Or Reducing?

For me it definitely got worse with the move to Germany. The drivers here are INCREDIBLY impatient and with hair trigger tempers. Everybody MUST be at the front and MUST be the fastest. Old ladies in golfs actually Wheelspin and race between lights.

This coupled with the fact that bikes are an easy target means my every ride is pretty tense. I mostly keep my calm but i generally get purposely cut off once a ride .

To be honest it's kind of sucking the joy out of riding through the city But that's a story for another time. ..

I used to get pretty angry when someone cut me up, or pulled out in front of me, but now I just think to myself, at least it'll make a good video. But when someone cuts up my girlfriend when we're out riding together, I definitely let them know I'm angry.

I carry in my car and sometimes on my bike. Depends upon where I'm going. My neighborhood is one of the safest in Texas, so getting jacked really isn't a concern. Some parts of Dallas otoh...Yeah. Packing. On a motorbike, the bike is going to be more effective for dealing with trouble on the highway than a gun. It's a lot easier to use biking skills to evade assholes than to draw from concealment at 70mph.

I also go out of my way not to escalate the situation with people regardless. Most CHL holders, including me, don't want to risk losing their right to carry over something stupid. Even a misdemeanor can get your license pulled, and it should if you're road raging and being a dick.

Biggest problem on the roads is the selfish attitude, and we've all probably been guilty of it. It's a shared space, if you don't like someone tailgating don't be a dick and brake check them, you may be morally right, but cold comfort if you get an injury.

Exactly, hit the nail on the head. Selfish attitude and while it pisses me off greatly, I generally have a better day when I recognize that's what it is and move on.

Agree totally with this as I'm a CCW user myself and do not want to lose my license (for the right granted in the constitution SMH) to do so.

I had an encounter with one of those selfish attitude drivers yesterday after work. She was in the left lane on the highway (fast/passing lane in the US). Cars were streaming around her, even using the carpool lane to pass her, but did she speed up or move? nope. I just split between her and another car and went on by. Whenever I do that, I like to look in their window and she was enraged and laid on the horn. If it was just me, I could say, yeah, maybe I was being a dick, too, but she was obstructing multiple other cars and just didn't give a shit.

It amazes me how violently people react to having the horn blown at them. I view it alike a tap on the shoulder of someone saying...hey man, pay attention. Nothing to be offended by, just get moving.

People these days have the idea that their screaming and tantrums aren't violence as long as
a. It's a form of violence they are comfortable with
b. They are using it to get what they want
c. someone else doesn't do the same to them (then the other person is using violence)

That's why people will scream, threaten, get up in peoples' faces and provoke and then say they were attacked for no reason when someone else chooses to escalate to a form they aren't comfortable with (like smacking the shit out of them).

I would say its getting worse in London (more bad drivers) also found it worse on a scooter than when i was on a big bike ..its like a size thing , if they think they can bully they will (same when i got a small city car) ...and because I hate bullying I sometimes react (for educational purposes)

I get pissed when I see people doing stupid things, but I also realize from time to time I do stupid things. Granted some people just suck at driving period.
The other day a guy decided he needed to turn left from the right hand lane only problem was I was in the middle. I saw him coming slammed on the brakes and made it home safe, but I did honk and give him the finger. I felt bad about it later as I let my anger get the best of me.

I wish I could just set some people down and calmly explain how their actions almost caused me harm.

I have a couple things that really get to me on 2 or 4 wheels. Not using blinkers and making unsafe turns or lane changes. And following too closely. If you drive slow, cool Ill get around, faster if im on the bike. I dont tail gate so I dont have to worry too much about emergency braking. But people ride my ass all the time. Sometimes I think I should just coast and let them push me so I can save gas then I remember Im on a bike and riding is much funner than getting ran over. The blinker thing pisses me off but if they cut me off I usually give them a couple flashes of the high beams and let it go.

Yep - I've learned not to react so much as I used to - I was actually putting myself in more danger through focussing on the bastard that cut me up rather than the road in front - but if they cut up Wifey...
"you wouldn't like me when I'm angry..."
