Is Road Rage Getting Worse Or Reducing?

Here in the UK, I am coming to the conclusion (possibly wrongly) that it is becoming like smoking - only a diminishing proportion of people are actively contributing.

But you can split it up. Road rage by motorcyclists, road rage against motorcyclists, road rage by four wheel drivers, and against. Groups versus single drivers/riders. Against learners v "experienced" drivers/riders. Road rage against mobile phone usage, etc etc.

What do you perceive as the main issue nowadays, and it may be different for different countries?

I don't see massive amounts, bar people honking horns as rebukes, but if there's anything kicking off of people trying to drive like pricks with others, I keep well out the way so never see what comes of it.

Don't see much of it these days, if someone f*cks me off (cutting dangerously in front of me or almost knocking me off) people always get the blinkers on so nothing really comes of it.

I did see coming out of work some guy in an Audi having a go at a coach driver, also the other week some dude had proper rage going on went up to bumper of another car and started trying to push it, jumping out trying to fight (no camera on at the time) apart from those two, kinda rare.

Yeah maybe I've noticed cagers getting more aware these days, might just be where I ride but I don't get as many idiots pulling out in front of me as I used to.

Or are people aware they are being watched, either by big brother or by pov cameras? My latest video seemed to entice both protagonists to come and put forward their own cases without any bidding from me. made a very interesting insight into the minds of aggressor and victim and how it becomes irrelevant because both become aggressive and dangerous not only to each other but to any poor bystander that may just happen to be caught by it

I found it completely disappeared earlier this year, although moving country may have had an influence on that :p

I think it's really hard to tell in my case, because I've changed and I'm really more chilled out than I used to be, so less cases happen to me. As for the others... I don't see serious things. As stated above, usually honks and not much more.

Here in Thailand I think they are just trying hard to keep it at its maximum level! One of my friend got shot on his bike, I got almost killed myself twice...

I feel it stays about the same. I got brake-checked when I got a bit close to a guy. When I had room I went around, stuck my finger out the window and gave him the naughty finger. I still don't understand why people do that though. If someone gets on your ass you are going to slow, move the eff over even if you are doing the limit.

Now that I think of it, I remember flying up on someone in the right hand lane, undertaking a slow poke in the left, and then the idiot in the right jams on his brakes. People are retarded. You might be content doing the limit but I am not. To each their own, don't go ahead and create potentially fatal situations because you want to make a point. In that case I honked when I saw him do it, and kept on my merry 90+ way. But don't for a second think I wasn't entertaining thoughts with the words "out back" and "2 by 4"

In the UK, regardless off speed you keep to the left (inside lane) unless overtaking when you move out and back again when done, you don't undertake. If you tailgate or lane hog, it's against the law, if spotted by the law.

Brake checking is just a stupid thing to do period. In the UK, even though you're not at fault, being involved in an accident will affect your premium as you are considered to be a greater risk to insure, so if you put yourself in a position where you can be in an accident, it's gonna cost you.

Biggest problem on the roads is the selfish attitude, and we've all probably been guilty of it. It's a shared space, if you don't like someone tailgating don't be a dick and brake check them, you may be morally right, but cold comfort if you get an injury.

I don't see road rage decreasing. How can it? There are more retarded drivers on the road today and more to come tomorrow and so on. Sometimes it's the retards themselves that become angry and start road raging.

Example:
Just in case you are not clear, I am referring to the retards in the truck.

I got kids in the truck so that gives me the right to not watch where I'm driving?

As for road rage... nah always be there and always roughly the same amount. Wonder if it is worst on a full moon?

It's always going to be there. As long as humans are driving cars and bad motorists exists; road rage will to!

I have noticed a bit less but that could just be me, There is a trouble spot out the front of my work where we used to see heaps of people yelling and screaming at each other but doesn't seem to happen as much any more and on the bike traffic isn't an issue for me so I'm more relaxed also!

I don't see it as much but then I'm not driving 100,000 miles a year anymore. People are becoming more aware that they might be being filmed too...but that is quickly forgotten when a call or text comes in! I've noticed it is a lot less of a probiblility in states where it is easy to carry/get a concealed weapons permit. Also saw a guy here in Louisville open carrying a nice 1911 on his belt while riding his R1. I'm big on guns, hadn't thought of open carry on a bike though...but I guess it might deter some idiots from starting something

On the flip side of that coin, recently there was a tard with a CHL that opened fire on a motorist that pissed him off. Guns solve problems about as much as they create them. And like road rage it has a simple thing in common. Personal mental state. And you never know what sets a guy off.

Recently I was getting off the highway and a truck was thinking the same a while later. The bad thing was he could not do that at the time he decided this (solid line), and was going to make me brake. So I honked at him and made him slot behind me. Naturally he honked back, because I was the asshole not letting him in. He stayed back as I rolled down my window, gave him a slow-motion thumbs up that I turned into the finger. He did not like this and came up quick. I anticipated his move further up and ran him into slower traffic. Later I joined the highway again while he raced past me. I did not make eye contact as he hauled past me, but did wave like royalty. Further up he got stuck at the light whilst I got stuck back on the highway. I bring out the worst in people, but not before someone else does something boneheaded first.

My assumptions were made based on people being rational...however, rational people are not the ones caught in most cases of road rage. We just had a guy get shot on I71 here in Louisville because he merged in front of a van and the van driver was having a bad day... He was dealing with it by meth and was a convicted felon that somehow obtained a gun...but a bad day none the less. Meth + guns + being rational does not always equal out!

I have bad days all the time. But I will not turn to vehicular man slaughter or actual man slaughter just because some nutsack does something idiotic in front of me. But a piece of my mind (verbal, horn, gesture or any combination of those) is to be expected. That might escalate things (see my earlier post), but what can I say. I just can't keep it to myself when someone makes a rotten move, gets honked at for a valid reason and then acts out. Then it's troll mode on.
