It's the extra battery hassle and not knowing how much battery life is left that would really bother me.I just ordered an Audio Technica ATR3350; looking forward to what it'll do for my vlogs.. Not looking forward to the 20ft of cord that comes with it lol

The long cable is a 5 minute fix for all but the most cack handed of folk.
Yeah. It apparently has short battery life too, like ~20 hours. I think I'm going to replace it on schedule every two weeks or so. I might shorten the wire; my soldering skills aren't necessarily the greatest, though.
Just out of curiosity and not to be presumptuous, does everyone know the difference between polar (pickup) patterns on mics, and how placement can and should be dictated by that pattern? I am a hobbyist recordist, so I have a little knowledge on the subject of microphones if anyone is curious.
I've heard lavelier mics are good, esp for wind noise but not tried one yet myself.![]()
Sorry I meant to put lavelier Rycote mics not just lavelierWhat do you use then? Lavalier is just a generic term for the form factor and normal location of the mic, and is the type that every single motovlogger uses as far as I'm aware.
If I was to try a new mic it would be this one:
