Motovlogging Is Harder Than I Thought

Just uploaded my first edited motovlog and like everyone else found it tricky to pick a topic. I tried talking about my surroundings and found that it would remind me of a story and I'd just go with it. I definitely sound nervous though haha. It's like I'm gargling marbles :P

You didn't stutter, you communicated what you wanted to communicate, and you have a decent setup (with the exception of 1/4 of the screen being helmet). All in all I give it a 10/10!
 
Do people actually get into motorcycling just to vlog?

I've been riding since I was just out of diapers. Most of my vlogs are single takes without tons of chops. I only vlog when I've got something interesting to say, demonstrate, or discuss.

Best advice I can offer new rider vloggers is VLOG ABOUT WHAT YOU KNOW. You're new to riding, you should be vlogging about every new things you've discovered about motorcycles, motorcycle culture, gear tips for fellow newbies, etc. You have a LOT to discover. It's nice to see a fresh perspective on riding, people talking about what they do for a living, how's school going (if you're in college), family life. Be a PERSON. I'm so tired of dullard HERP DERP vloggers constantly pulling clown BS. If I wanted to watch clowns I'd go to the circus... or Hollywood.

Yep, I do believe that is what some people are doing these days. It spins me out that people would do that. :rolleyes:

And those are the ones that are going to struggle with concentrating on the road at the same time as talking as they have not had the prior experience. As others here have said, it does come easier when you have a few more years of road use behind you. If you are a teenager who is into watching motovlogs, then all of a sudden you can ride legally on the road and start vlogging straight away, it's not going to come easy. o_O

I had been driving for 22 years and had a few years of riding behind me before I discovered that there was a thing called motovlogging. And I still struggle to put sentences together after 2+ years of vlogging. I just got better at leaving stuff out in the editing process and repeating myself over and over in the helmet when I knew the sentence did not flow right. Sometimes I will say the same thing three different ways and then pick the best version in editing. ;):cool:
 
One of my subs was a non biker, watched loads of vloggers, collected stickers and has just got his CBT and a MT125. His Sony cam arrived yesterday :)
 
Same here guilty of the ums and ahs. Can't tell you how many times I've had to just start over or redo parts. But that's the great thing about editing software. No one knows if you edit it right!

Don't let vlogging get you killed man. I find best to vlog when I am away from the city. Though sometimes, we dont have a choice.

I rarely do topics and its just some crap that happened that day or something I saw. Seems to come across much better than thinking... I know I will do this topic today!

Hahaha! Yeahhh, I like to do that when I'm riding with someone at the passenger seat. Like "time to shut uuuuuuuup!!".

I've been riding since I was 10yo (trial, enduro and so until I was 14), so it's not that hard to me, but of course I loose the thread. I think, as some have already said, a good practice could be just talking in every ride, even when not motovlogging. Try to think out loud, talk about whatever, the last film you watched, the relativity theory or Kim Kardashian's ass. Well, not that last one. The key is practice and experience. Also, try to motovlog when at easy roads or with not that much traffic.

I'm a victim of filler words. Ums, ahs, alrights, sooo... etc.
I think it adds to the vlog though, kindof shows that I'm doing it live and adds a bit of depth to it. Choosing my words, I guess.

The funny thing is, in person I'm a very quiet, shy guy.. but when I'm talking for vlogs I tend to ramble a lot. It's weird. Hopefully this whole experience opens me up to people a bit more.

Like any art form, practice.

Practice off the bike.
Practice on the bike.
Practice while driving.
Practice in the shower.
Practice infront of loved ones.
Practice infront of friends.
Practice with distractions.

Practice.

Im in the process of making my first motovlog. Been riding for 5 years now so im comfortable with riding and talking but biggest challenge is staying on topic. I find that im everywhere, jumping from 1 topic to another.
 
I tried a 'proper' motovlog where you talk about something not related to the video today.

I hated it, it's just not my thing. At least I gave it a go :)

I'll stick to just saying "amazing", "gobsmacked" and "Is that a Peregrine falcon?" as I navigate the most beautiful country on Earth.
