This Is Why You Shouldn't Ride Like A Moron.

There are numerous things I would like to know that aren't shown in this video but the main thing is - why was the car stopped? Breakdown? Photo Stop? How long had it been stopped? Did the driver have enough time to place breakdown markers? What?

E.g. If I were the driver of that car in that situation and I had broken down, I would immediately move back down the road and let vehicles behind me know that there is a obstruction ahead.
 
In defence of the broken down car driver, we don't know that they didn't break down mere moments before the doofus on the bike in his CHINOS and greased trainers came around the bend.

That said, he was really shallow into that bend when he should have been way out left so he could see further ahead.

THAT SAID, nobody died, and there wasn't even any plastic scraped so we could all argue that, leg flailing antics aside, everybody was riding/driving to their abilities.

OR they were VERY lucky!!!

I am making the assumption the driver was shouting that at himself as he came to a stop. One simply does not dive into blind corners at speeds that high unless one is on a racetrack. That was a free lesson instead of something far worse. Speed is fine, just as long as one can see where you are going.
 
Driving too fast but they both avoided it nicely (they put themselves in that position though, I think) Car driver really is an idiot too, surprised Murphy's law didn't come down hard on them.
 
I agree with the out of the box thinking here. What if it had been a 1200 pound bull or a downed phone/ power line. Different things to think about.
Also, I know there was a scene like this in the hills of Colorado back in 2010 or something. There was an old old man driving up pikes peak and he stopped in the middle of the road (pikes peak doesnt have large shoulders) to have a heart attack and dial 911. He died up there.

Absolutely - hey it could be a cow, debris, even a fallen biker who was coming the other way in a similar "trying to have a crash" fashion, this sort of riding belongs on the track (where they may also learn to corner more effectively... eventually...).
 
As far as I know, here in my state there is no law about having to have one of those triangle flares... I carry a set each in my car/truck just to be safe, but I've rarely ever seen anyone else with them (except for semi drivers).

That aside, what in the heck was that motorcyclist doing with his foot flailing out at high speeds like he was :eek: ??? First, you don't brake or downshift by putting your foot onto the ground or into the air... second, he was all over the place on his control... and third, the results of a good ride is not being able to put your knee down all of the time.....

Everyone in this video were at fault. When it comes down to it, though, who's at fault for rear ending a stalled vehicle??? For all we know, the driver could have been at that building up the road getting help. My wife, all 5'2" or 4"... whatever she is :p , 114 lbs... she can't even open a lid on a jar :p ! Now how can she push a car to the side of the road if by herself :eek: ? Also, to stand in the middle of the road on curves like that (to warn other drivers)... or on any road, is dangerous in the first place... at least, that's what they used to teach us in Driver's Ed ;) .

So... if you can't see around the next curve, then proceed with caution. If you're a flyin', then you might as well be a dyin', period. 'Nough said ~_~ .
 
Sincerely hope you would know wether your wife was 5'2" or not as 4" is really short for a person! ;)

It is with no doubt that if either the car or the bike couldn't have avoided the stopped car, they both would have hit it. I agree with @T'Biker the rider is at his limit, not sure I've ever seen that before! And also that you've got to be a monumental idiot to leave your car there without a warning triangle or going round the bend yourself to warn traffic.

That's the balance I think. Not going slow, not riding at your limit. That "rythm" is the perfect balance IMHO.

First thing people do when they have car trouble or accident, is to stop and get out to check, which is the worst idea ever. The first thing you should do (riding or driving), is to check if the spot you're in is safe to stop in the first place.

I've been in situation where BOTH (dumbass) drivers actually discussing their fender-bender right in the blind corner, on a curved ramp. You can hear all the cars behind slamming their brakes, I was just hoping nobody would rear-end me and end my life on the spot. I fucked them up nicely and told them to get the fuck off the ramp to an open area like 100 meters down the road and talk till the pigs start flying about their minor fender-bender.

Back to the point, even if you are attempting to move your vehicle out of the danger spot, you MUST have someone positioned BEFORE the blind corner to alert/warn oncoming motorist to slow down. If you are the only one around, I would say, alert the oncoming motorist takes priority over moving (I mean pushing, if it can still be driven then of course you should move it immediately) your vehicle. Why? Because in the process of moving (pushing) your vehicle, someone might be speeding towards you and kill you and themselves. If you are out of the blind corner and alerting the oncoming people, you are preventing others from potentially crashing into your vehicle, and also getting yourself out of the danger area.

I had another situation where my friend's car lost control on a curved ramp (blind spot), crashed the barrier and was disabled (the car, not the driver). I came over and instead of going to the crashed car, I instead stopped at the side of the beginning of the ramp and waved the oncoming cars to slow down, most saw me and immediately slowed down, some saw but didn't give a shit and sped as usual, sure enough I could hear them slamming their brakes shortly after that. I told my friend not to be hanging around his car, just leave it there (it isn't going anywhere) and GFTO of that area.

As for the video, first of all, lucky they didn't crash, secondly it's definitely the car driver's fault for failing to alert other motorist. A selfish or brainless move could mean someone not going back to see their family ever again.

Quite easy to judge others really.

Progressive driving or riding can be done safely as long as you can stop before or avoid the furthest obstacle in your sight.

As far as I see, they done that although it's a close one. The riders body position was his let down, hence why he had to anchor up rather than avoid

Crashing is the no no, not avoiding it
