This Is Why You Shouldn't Ride Like A Moron.

They should have pushed it out of the way. The bike or kit car didn't look like they were carrying a lot of speed

I got the feeling that the biker was already riding to his (not the bike's) limit the way his foot comes off the peg at 0:15, and really didn't do himself any favours with his view on the last right-hander, being close to the inside edge rather than out to the line for a better view - perhaps caught up in the moment of riding with the car following closely.

Having said that, the broken down car driver is still a weapons-grade bellend for leaving the car where they did....

Not sure about the rest of the world, but here we are required to carry a red triangle thingy that is reflective

In this case that triangle would have been an awesome warning, If this car was broken down,

It's not really about the car, it could have been anything in the road.

I expected this kind of response though :p

Definitely ride at the speed at which you can stop in the distance you can see to be clear and on your side of the road. Pretty much the over riding principle of not having a crash, although more to it than that. It is with no doubt that if either the car or the bike couldn't have avoided the stopped car, they both would have hit it. Doesn't matter how much speed you are or aren't carrying, if you can't bring your machine to a stop before you hit, it's too much speed.

I agree with @T'Biker the rider is at his limit, not sure I've ever seen that before! And also that you've got to be a monumental idiot to leave your car there without a warning triangle or going round the bend yourself to warn traffic.

Well, in my opinion, the stalled car in the middle of the road is a hazard in of itself. It is amazing there was no safety triangle or automobile flares that the stalled car could have used. The rider was I think taking a risk in going around the stalled car, but the rider could have probably avoided a head on collision, while the trailing car would have had a hell of a time driving on the shoulder if there was a steep drop off from the side of the road.

i dont, i dont even know where to buy one honestly but i ran out of gas once in a durango ( failed to pay attention to my gauges) but on flat ground i pulled it over to the side. looked to me like the person in the video driving a much smaller vehicle was on a slight decline which would have made it pretty easy to coast to the side and even further down the hill making it less of a surprise to traffic coming the same direction.

I have one in the car, don't on the bike, but a bike wouldn't be in the middle of the road...

It's not necessarily about the bike though. Scenario, you go over on a country road with a pillion who is injured and can't be moved, in middle of road round blind bend. You need to stay with pillion. That might mean you, pillion and bike in middle of road.

If we make assertions that others should carry these for the benefit of others and themselves or their property, should we not be showing those higher standards ourselves?

It's a fair point. You can get warning triangle helmet bags, as it sounds, a bag with a warning traingle on it. Put your helmet in and leave it by the roadside.

You have to be prepared for the unexpected, and if you are racing round corners like that.....you can't always expect it to end well for you.

I wonder how this would have played out in court. Didn't a women who stopped in the middle of the lane to help an animal or something get charged with the death of a rider and his kid last season?

i'm with you 100 per cent on this.... the car driver could have been elderly, pregnant, disabled etc.... i'm sure they did not leave it there to catch people out.
It could easily have been a dead cow for that matter.... which is the point I believe you are making.
C'mon guys don't take such a narrow perspective on things, its not about the car driver :)
