Serious Islam

This may be controversial depending on your worldview. I don't much care for bigots. Oh well.

Kitty. They are upset about cartoons. That's the blasphemy argument, and it's a valid one to confront. They also have political grievances.

I had a chat with an imam friend recently who wanted me to check over his proposed newsletter to his congregation. It conflated condemnation of the attacks in France with the wider political issues. After discussing it thoroughly, he ensured that his organisation would produce two separate leflets - one solely about the attacks and their strong condemnation of it, and a separate one (published at the same time) addressing their political grievances. Both things needed to be said because these are the things the community cares about, bit it was important to separate, as the two must not be intertwined as they would have come across to the rest of the UK as trying to justify the killings. Bigots come from everywhere, and I was very happy to help him out and ensure they came across well while covering all their issues.

Check out the attached clip - the muslim guy is very strong on his good arguments, and I don't really understand why the Jewish guy was having a go, because he just came across as an arse.

The Muslim man they interviewed believes that Palestinians are TOTALLY to blame for all of the problems with Israel. Which is really pretty insane (though he should have the right to think that without being exiled!). Even though he was basically paroting the view by the west that Islam is barbaric, the Jewish man still attacks him. And that third guy was just along for the ride...what a video! lol.

I don't buy that Christianity is done evolving and that Islam is somehow behind the times. If Christian fundamentalists had their own way without being tempered by secular laws then their country would look EXACTLY the same as any country with Shariah Law. So I totally get that moderate Muslims view these actions the same way normal Christians view Westboro Baptist Church and others like them, I'm totally with him on that point and the frustration from the woman host who says this is not the Islam she learned, though I really don't know why moderate Muslims should hold themselves responsible. All they can do is teach and practice peace. We don't think moderate Christians should be held responsible for WBC, that just seems like unfairly relating two different things to me.

A better way to sum up what I said in my video may be: they chose that target because of a cartoon, but a cartoon is not the reason they chose a target to begin with. In my view this statement addresses both points without legitimizing terrorism in any way. What I don't mention (because I had to cut out so much) is that the man who held up people in that shop said in a video, the order for these two attacks came down because of treatment of prisoners in Guantanamo. Whether that's true or not, who knows...but it is consistent with other narratives I've heard right from the horse's mouth. The primary point is that we all need to examine the type of western imperialism that breeds these crazy fuckers. No one wants to be invaded, killed, displaced, and robbed of their culture. When that happens, it's very easy for someone to talk a young person into doing politically motivated actions for "religious" reasons. And I'm not saying that given half a chance radical Muslims wouldn't do the same, spreading mosques and burkas all over the world like Starbucks and McDonalds. I just don't see this going away until we stop seeing things in black/white and ignoring any responsibility we might have. But thanks for the comment, definitely gives me something to think about. :)

We are all human until
Race disconected us
Religion separated us
Politics divided us
And wealth classified us

ITs just dumb cunts pretending they are righteous and doing it for the good of the people. Sheeps to the slaughter...

No doubt. Pretty sad and ridiculous all the way around especially when you consider how huge and amazing the universe is, that we'd kill each other for any reason at all. Americans flocked to go see the film "American Sniper" about a guy who claimed to have killed 255 people during his time in Iraq. He was subsequently shot and killed at a gun range by one of his comrades. Here people are praising him as a hero. In Iraq I am sure he was considered quite the terrorist. I'd like to see these divisions dissolve to the point where we go, hey, we share this planet...anyone who murders is not a hero. All lives matter. But that seems so far away sometimes.

Just people with power trying to rule other countrys, i say let them rip themselfs apart, as if you invade said country you will become the badguy.

I never tend to get involved with topics like this for fear of offending but I stand by two things that I believe in

1) NO God, Allah or otherwise, would agree, instruct or wish for his believers or any person to behead or kill another person in his name.

2) If someone does not believe in God or any other higher being, and when they come to die they arrive at heaven or the after life and realise they made a mistake then a god would forgive.

Said my piece....but unfortunately with religion you can't change people's beliefs over a cup of tea and the sad thing is as a human race we still haven't learnt to live in peace for the short time we are here and probably never will.

We have in this scenario Muslims, Islamophobia and Terrorism. Muslims are unjustly subjected to Islamophobia... I get that and it is not right, just like any discrimination is not right.
We also have Terrorism and its devastating affects on the innocent victims and their families.
What I don't get is why Islamophobia stirs people to Vlog about it and condone it MORE than Terrorism and its terrible consequences.
To be so empathic about one aspect, and lets face it...it is the one with the least severe outcomes.... Does not make sense to me.
For the sake of balance and perspective give both an equal voice in your vlogs .... otherwise it comes across as "Just another Hand Wringer trying to be politically correct".
This is why I commend "Spacepod" who actually, spoke out against Terrorism on his Vlogs without making the Islamophic associations that many do.

So sorry Kill Kitty, did not find the Video controversial or particularly hard hitting, more obvious and un-controversial.

Hope you can accept my honest feed back....

Shame good moral people seem to be in few at the moment. No one wants to defend them when a small number of them are doing crazy shit. I agree it needs to stop, but I think like all religions, it needs to be put in its place. We must remember Islam is still quiet young, and most religions have gone through extremist phases, It doesn't mean we should justify their actions, but rather attack the extremists more than just saying Islam.

The Extremists and the Bigots are both my enemy's... Let them have each other, and hope no more people on the highground gets hurt :P

All I can say to that is....a big AMEN !!!!

I would agree to it, but I can't say that Race, Religion, Politics are all pure evil. Wealth maybe, but unless you guys are planning on joining the Venus project what can you do? Race is not something we can control and it's not something to be ashamed of either. Religion has given this world a lot of beauty, which today science now does, if anything, it's history that fundamentalist can't let go of and instead of learning from mistakes, we're almost destined to repeat them. Politics is everything, not as much as money, but without it there is no order. (In the UK) We created democracy free from the crown (God) and now choose who represents us, unfortunately greed leads to corruption and gerrymandering, the media follows GENERAL public opinion and pursues the issues that we worry about, hence why when a scandal hits the news, heads tend to roll and government whips are there to keep the media in check. Essentially We give to much of our power away to those who only use it for profit and in return they point the focus (our hate) towards another issue.

If you wan't to know what divides us it's Greed

It's all about money and power no matter which side you are on... no surprise there. Some people are so righteous, they can't be wrong and some people are so wrong, they can't be right. I'm a little dismayed by which direction this world has turned within the last 14 years... It's almost like the turbulent '60's all over again but different :( . Time to head for the shelters because there's only five years until the next decade and we're still stuck in a rut :p .

...will things get better or worse :o ? Only time will tell ~_~ .....

It's always interesting to see how we discredit opposing view points by calling them names and assign these negative, scary-sounding adjectives to them, immediately making them loose, especially nowadays. "Fat shamer?", "Islamophobic"?, "rape-apologist"?, insert other ridiculous made-up compound word here*.

We should be able to call out and point the finger at beliefs that have consequences on the life of other people.
When someone points out that maybe there is a deep rooted problem (maybe even a link) with Catholicism and pedophilia (referring to priests here) people listen and say that we need to reform Catholicism to get rid of this problem. It would be ridiculous to call someone who points this out to be a "Catholiphobic"? And (using a card from the "Islamophobia" people here) even racists, because hey, even if a religion is not a race most Catholics are Latins, right?

As ridiculous as that sounds, when it comes to Islam it's exactly the logic that is applied. When someone points out, like Bill Maher (just to use a recent well-known example) that maybe there is a problem (maybe a link?) with Islam and terrorism based on decades of evidence (stoning women to death, beheadings in Saudi Arabia, sharia law) they get called a racist, bigot, Islamophobic, etc. It's not generalizing but it's formulating a hypothesis that is immediately shut down and discredited by being called names and forced to apologize. It's dishonest and immediately shuts down any sort of progress or exchange of ideas that can be made to reach a point of agreement.

Of course there are people that are bigoted against certain races, ideas, faiths, ideologies, etc. But so what? They don't deserve our consideration, as well as hurting someone's feelings should not keep us from criticizing bad ideas.

I think people just need to listen to historians and philosophers who have been studding these subjects for decades. Rather than people who think free speech applies to there life, talking for the sake of it. That's why I don't talk about this shit in my videos, you are just inviting the Bigots to come out and play.

To be honest, if you look at someone who is, White, black, Asian, Hispanic, Fat, Thin, Gay, Straight, Transgender, Autistic, of a certain Faith .etc and you don't just see another human, you are part of the problem. It's not because you say Fat people are disgusting, it's because you honestly believe it makes them lower than you! << If anyone feels this way about being born a certain way, or living life a certain way, that doesn't harm anyone except maybe themselves, Go Fuck Yourself!

Don't like Gay Marriage, don't marry a gay person
don't like fat people, don't get fat
don't like Islam, don't become a Muslim

Islam is a problem, as much as the whole fucking Human race is a problem! So don't act so elitist, because you weren't born into a Muslim family.

Some people are evil! and want to kill others, martyrs for reasons that some of there family can never understand. But then to point at someone you don't know, and say 'You are the problem' and how the EDL want to kill Muslims! Does no one see the Hypocrisy? Shunning and Killing others for your own beliefs.
