Drift Hd Ghost Firmware - Low Light Mode!

Just thought I'd post this in case any Ghost owners weren't aware, the latest firmware (which was actually released back in July) has two extra modes, 'vivid' and 'low light. Vivid seems to boost the colour saturation and/or contrast, whilst low light is obviously great for night shots.

You can grab the firmware here - http://store.driftinnovation.com/firmware-update/

I've tested it out and it appears to work quite well. Way less grainy. From YouTube videos I've seen, it's not quite as good as the Ghost-S, but definitely a lot more passable. The default mode was bordering on unusable at night time.

I think the Ghost-S automatically switches to low light mode when needed, so it's a bit more of a hassle on the HD Ghost but at least the option is there.

Is this the same as GoPro's low light mode where it just lowers the framerate to 30fps and doesn't actually do anything clever?

The framerate at 1080p is either 25 or 30fps anyway, so it's probably doing something else. I wouldn't know the technicalities unfortunately!

Always wonder how well Drift does, I was going to mention the Low light mode, but C&C beat me to it...lol. Hope you figure it out.

I'll probably do a comparison blog at some point soon. I have a feeling it lowers the ISO a wee bit or something. The video noise when recording on the default setting looks similar to a maxed out ISO setting on a DSLR. Just my guess.

The S has a low light mode, the self-adjusting exposure is a bit of a mislead, it only adjusts to an extent. Calmbiker mentioned it in one of his recent uploads.

Ah right, that's a tiny bit disappointing. I guess it'd still be useful in certain situations though.
