Music I Use

I just thought I would share the source of the music I use although I'm sure most of you guys have already heard of them.
NoCopyrightSounds
They have recently become an actual record label and they only release songs that they own the rights to.
It's all free to use and monetize as long as you give them and the artist credit.
They actually have some decent sounding stuff as well :)

I use toucan music a lot

I don't monetise my videos so if I like something I'll search for it on a mobile, if I can see it then I'm good to use it lol

You can also try Jamendo and SoundCloud to get some tunes for your vids.
There's a huge selection to choose from and you get more recommendations suiting your taste as you like and favorite more songs.

I would but I'm worried about songs suddenly not being copyright free.
At least I know more or less that NCS releases will always be copyright free.

Jamendo posts the license on the site, they mainly use Creative Commons.
With SoundCloud you have to be more careful and maybe ask for permission to the author. I did it a few times and they were really cool to let me use their music as long as it was non-commercial and credit given.

That's a good point about the free use being removed. I'm surprised you can do that after giving up the rights.

Yep it happens all the time. It seems really risky to be asking permission from the author as if they are ever signed to a label that track will not be able to be used.
With NCS they are the label and they own the rights to all songs they release and since they are all about copyright free songs then it's a reasonably safe bet that the songs won't have their copyright free status revoked.

Some obscure bands will be very happy to give you a license or reuse/distribution rights but some other audio sources fail to properly license content or the license expires. Refer to this thread for an example of what happens with some "free" audio services like the one on youtube.

I remember reading that thread a while ago.
The difference is youtube had leased the rights to the songs, they didn't own them forever.
From what I can tell NCS owns the songs and I can't see them revoking the copyright free status anytime soon as copyright free music for youtubers is what they are all about.

I record my own, its a pain, and limits me a lot as im no musician but it makes me feel like my vlogs are of my own hard work, not just out sourcing

I dream of doing that.
First I need to learn to make music or play an instrument.
Then I need to actually make something that is not an insult to anyone's ears.
Then use it on a video.

That's worth knowing! I had assumed using YouTube's library was the safest option.
