Hey guys, first time posting here and thought I would jump right into some serious question asking. I am so fed up with the crappy mounting options for the gopro so have been looking for a second camera that is easy to mount and won't break the bank.

Has anyone had any experience with the Mobius camera? They are just one of your super cheap ($70) china cameras but with the difference of having a big community backing and pretty amazing low light performance. No mic in jack but anyone who can use a soldering iron could easily fix that.
If you haven't seen these before check out this guys video. He carries on a bit but does some pretty comprehensive tests.

Hey Cods

New camera angle for you to try.

heard of them, and talked with ppl who are considering them. even as a second camera... i would say you get what you paid and its just too cheap imho.

even watching the review :P how long is this cam gonna last before it falls apart?

Well I need another camera so I just dove right in and bought one. I will be sure to put together a vid to document the success or failure of this camera for vlogging.

If techmoan says they are good then they are good ;)
yeah he seemed to know what he was talking about. I guess the sales pitch worked on me.

They look like such a simple set-up so I am hoping there is not too much that can go wrong. We will see!

I have one and it's fantastic

I couldn't imagine riding and talking with it though. The quality is brilliant for what it is

Cool good to hear someone has had a positive experience with one. Why wouldn't you ride with it?

Wind noise would be awful but if you wasnt doing sound, not an issue

Some of my videos have footage from it. I think the Essex meet video used a lot of footage from the camera

I have been looking some info about that camera and it has enormous online community support, even more than other "big name" vendors and absolutely no advertising from the company. It's basically a product that is cheap, performs well (as far as I read), it doesn't use the crappy Ambarella chipset, it sells itself like bread and it has a lot of options that are a hassle to configure because of the lack of screen but it seems to perform very good as a multi-purpose camera.
I may be getting a couple to mount it permanently on the back of my bike and use the other as a dashcam. It even has an extension cable for the image sensor and different sensor options including pinhole lenses, ideal to mount the camera somewhere inconspicuously so it won't be stolen.

Yeah its a pretty solid little camera! I think I will have to try the external audio mod to see if i can get it working as a vlogging camera.

oh my god... what an angle haha!

And that little camera looks pretty good. :) I've seen very few comments made about it on the web in various forums, but for the most part, they say the same thing; that it's a good camera for the price. Take that as you will, I'm assuming that it, although may not be the absolute BEST camera, it does the job, and better than expected.

Yeah that's not a bad way to sum it up

New to the forums, but had to chime in. I own one, and LOVE it. I am about to start Vlogging with it. I'm going to wire a switched mic jack to it and have a mic mounted inside my helmet. It is a STEAL for its quality and functionality, and the community is great. There's constant firmware updates and new features added. You can even modify the settings on the go from your android device.. You could buy 4 of these for the price of the newest GoPro. It records in 1080p at 30 fps and 720 at 60 fps. You can mod it to accept an external mic, and also install a different lens with a wider FOV. Hope that helps.

I have a friend who has one and it's pretty good, they're picking up price in the UK, about £70 off eBay if you use a reputable seller.

Where I see the downside now (bar external microphone ports) is by the time you've bought a waterproof case and mounting systems, it's starting to add up a bit.

If you're not fussed about size and shape for £75 you can get the SJ4000 GoPro lookalike. Comes with case and brackets, and the mounts are compatible with GoPro. It's on Techmoan.

Back to the möbius, if you're using it as a non-mic'd camera not in a case, a bit of blue tac over the mic hole does wonders for wind noise.
