YouTube has ever changing expectations on language :P

I was uploading a video and going through the checks only to find the bad language is getting a bit more restrictive -

I had to click the abbreviated because I actually censored the word with a clown horn to be one of the most family friendly bikers rolling around.

Huh... so as long as I only drop f-bombs after the first 7 seconds, I'm good to go? Good info :)

Personally, I lean toward self-censoring, probably because most of the channels I subscribe to do the same thing. Besides, sometimes hearing a bleep (or honk) is almost more satisfying in a way.

I self edit too. I am not sure dropping the F-bomb after 7 seconds would be considered good to go. Looks like that would fall between the top two choices.

First seven seconds and already cursing? Is this the new norm for greeting viewers?
I've seen a few channels getting straight to the cussing recently. Being an ex sailor, I have a pretty filthy mouth on me, but I have very much been trying to reduce/eliminate the swearing from my content, not completely, but knock it back a couple of levels.

I saw that too, @R-Rated - I choose that if I have any bleeps in my videos... generally I've been trying to self-censor while recording, but sometimes it's hard. I had one string of expletives recently that I just said F it, did a "PLEASE STAND BY" color bar screen, and moved to the next clip LOL.

It doesn't change the monetization if you pick that, FYI. Only leaving in tons of curses and stuff will get a video demonetized.

I dont swear on my channel, mainly because I know families sit down and watch my stuff.
I dont like swearing infront of my family so why would I in a video!
I get critisized by others who do swear, which is odd ?
I am a swearer in real life
Same here, I swear by myself or with my wife, but not in front of my kids (who are both teenagers and could probably teach me some words). They don't watch my videos, but still... there's something to be said for aiming for a higher standard when creating content for the general public.

OTOH, if I'm wrenching, or if someone cuts me off? <BLEEEEP>

Thes censored words is a new benchmark. It would be interesting to see how many green money icons vs yellow or even the dreaded red they have -

The funny part is that YouTube lets you self-certify if and how many bad words, dangerous activities, etc. are in your video... so maybe the big guys are just going in and saying, "nah, it's all G-rated, boss!" and YT isn't catching it?

I only have green dollar signs on my videos, AFAIK.

That kind of mucking about is what lead to the adpocolypse to begin with. Remember the adpocolypse was just after a big YouTuber went filming in the suicide forest and showed a dead body.

Then we saw you have have X number this or that to be monetized and the checklists began.

That's crazy! I wasn't around then, and never heard that - totally makes sense why they'd make changes.

Can you censor vids after uploading? I’ve noticed I’ve slipped a few naughty words in some vids when I watch them a few days after uploading Will definitely have to be careful from now on

I believe you can use the YouTube Studio to edit that stuff, but I haven't done it myself or else I'd show you how.
