Have you watched any good films/box-sets recently?

I love watching motovlogs, but have to step away from YouTube periodically else I go a bit mental :-D
Anyhows, I spend a wedge of time on Netflix/Amazon Prime watching box-sets and movies. Have you watched anything that blew you away or engrossed you enough to recommend?

The most recent film I watched that did so was "Everything Everywhere All at Once", it really made me think and I loved the concept and story too. It is a bit weird, but very awesome.

I rarely get impressed by films, in the recent years. Maybe I have seen too many, and become too picky.
More internationally known film, that I liked recently, was "Guilty". The simplistic setup reminded me "The Sunset Limited"
I think I also liked "Furioza" it had a bit of "Green Street Hooligans" vibe.

And I can't of course miss the chance of promoting some Estonian movies. My favorites from the past few years are:
"Tõde ja õigus / Truth and justice" based on best known novel by Estonian author.
"Seltsimees laps / The little comrade" based on real life
"Kalev" based on real life.
"Estcoy-8" documentary.

Good luck finding those with English subtitles. Except for the last one, which I know has English subtitles available, because I made them. But now seems the official streaming page also has introduced subtitles.

The Guilty was quite tense and enjoyable :-)
TÕDE JA ÕIGUS looks interesting.

Can folk embed any videos rather than hyperlink them, is easier to watch them if they are in the post rather than linked away from the forum! :-)

That is cool, you made the subtitles for the official release? I've never asked, is that what you do for a job?

I did not make subtitles officially. The movie is available to be watched\streamed for free, but there was no version, with English subtitles, when it came out. I translated it for someone, who does not understand Estonian, and then as I had already made the subtitles, I just shared them publicly online.
I've done a few before, in my life. English to Estonian, Finnish to Estonian, Estonian to English. I kind of like chasing the meaning behind what is said, and figuring out, how to give most of the idea, behind the words, with as few words as possible. But I hate timelines and forcing myself to work on something I don't like enough to do it of my own desire to share it with someone. So I doubt I could work well, as a translator.

The Old Man starring Jeff Bridges is a great series. Someone compared it to Jason Borne if he makes it to retirement. We finished it and now my wife and I are currently watching the box set of Piorot starring Davud Suchet. We use it as a wind down.

Something about the character speaks to me:cool:

I do love a good Agatha Christie murder mystery! :-D

I barely have any time to watch youtubers I follow, let alone get into box sets.
I have not had time to watch any YouTube this last week or this week. Gonna try and catch up on some tomorrow, but will most likely need to do a big catch up in October, summer holidays, have priority, and I have my best mate visiting from Australia, so his family is getting all my time at the mo.

LOL, I watch 1 or 2 episodes of something, or maybe most of a movie, each night with my wife. After that spousal duty is done, I come down to the porch with whiskey and cigar in hand, ready for the Tube. Whether that's editing, watching, or both.

I can only watch so many YT vids before my brain wants something different, and then I spend the next hour picking apart editing styles on whatever it is I'm watching on the TV.
