GoPro 9 freezing & aftermarket batteries

For those who have a GoPro 9, do you use aftermarket batteries or just the original ones?

Lots of people complain about gopro freezing, and I'm not 100% sure yet, I need to do more testing, but it might be from the aftermarket batteries.

I never really paid attention to this, but I went on a ride yesterday, came back, just to discover my screen was stuck recoding at 2:58 seconds. Had issues turning it off, also turning it back on.. I was using a telesin battery, they have good reviews on amazon.

I swapped the batteries, so it happened I had an original one around, shoved that in, and suddenly everything works fine, at least the turning on and off part.. it seems more responsive. I even recorded for like 10mins or so, and everything seems to be working fine.

I'm not 100% sure yet, however, I had a similar issue before where the gopro got stuck recording after a few minutes, and I think last time, now thinking about it, I was also using a telesin battery.

So now I want to use the original ones more often and see if I'm still having issues. If not, clearly then the batteries are causing the issues.

Anyone using aftermarket batteries and noticed similar issues?

yes, firmware up to date, using a recommended SD card, so the only other thing that could be is the batteries.

I've just watched online a video of someone who approached this subject that it could be the batteries. Apparently aftermarket batteries, once they reach a certain percentage, 20-25%, they might not be that efficient, and that could cause this issue.

So I'm now trying to test this theory.

I've seen a few other motovloggers running Hero 9's with non GoPro batts experiencing freezes as well. I just have a Hero 8 but I do use the GoPro batts and have never had any issues at all with mine. The 9's batteries are different though.

In my Hero 8, it really doesn't like the Hero 5/6/7 batteries, even though they are GoPro batteries, they changed them when they added the blue flash

I use the Hero 9, with GoPro batteries, and mine was freezing all the time ... I ended up returning my Hero 9 for a warranty replacement. There are a few vids on my channel about it that shows what my Hero 9 was doing - is this the same thing you're experiencing???
