Literally just got this out the box a few hours ago. First impressions are good, build quality feels nice, just updated the firmware and played around with it indoors. Just got a few issues and questions.

1. Does it tell you when its fully charged? I left mine charging for ages but nothing told me it had charged fully even though the battery display showed full.
2. Can anyone recommend a good external mic to go with it? Heard mixed reviews for the official Drift mic, and theres loads of others on Ebay so not sure what to go for.
3. Any way to create a 'backup' leash? I.e. if the mount comes unstuck off the helmet, has anyone found a good way to keep the camera tethered incase the mount fails?
4. Is HDR better or worse than 1080p 30? It doesnt really explain the difference.

Thanks

Backup Leash - on the mount that screws onto the camera there`s a small hole - I have a cord looped through that and fastens onto one of the brake lines on my bike. The clip then slots into the mount affixed to the bike - but I`ve found the mount is so secure my backup leash has never been tested in anger - but PEACE OF MIND!!!

The battery is guess work to be fair, but I also have the long lasting one and it came with built in LEDs which I'll post a pic of. It lets you know when it's charged. Rode do great but not cheap microphones, but I'm pretty happy with the Drift one so far, I use setting 1 or 2 for sensitivity - but I think that depends on helmet set up etc for individual use. I should really consider a tether, but so far I'm pretty confident with the fixing as is. I have two Ghost X. I like them a lot! Still learning with the different resolutions, some googling in the offing so I can understand the differences too.

Well im not at all impressed.
Took it out for a test ride, set to 1080p 30, high bitrate.
It did several videos of random lengths, one at 11:47, one 3 seconds, another at 12 minutes. I didnt touch the camera during this time.
Going to get a refund and get a gopro

The GoPros will also split your video into chunks too, it is based on file size. All you should need to do is join them together in your video editing software! :)

is that not the last 3 seconds of the whole vid making a 23min50s video? Or was it a random 3 seconds? If a random 3 seconds then yes it does sound like something is wrong!

A random 3 seconds.
Im wondering if its because i set bitrate to high. What is your birate set to and what card do you use?

I cant find the figures on the bitrate the Drift X records at, but i tested the card and it writes at 32mbps and reads at 75mbps.
Ill try it on medium bitrate and see if it fixes it. The camera seems to record just fine when its just sat on my bed for 5 hours. Which makes me think the drastic change in scenery and colours is making the bitrate too high to write.
Thoughts?

On bike you have a much faster bitrate requirement. 32Mbps is not really a very fast card. I suggest spending out on a faster card.

Dropped the bitrate down to medium and in about an hours riding it produced one 3 second clip, the rest were the correct length. Ordered a faster card but still not entirely sure its the cards fault
