So a couple of new cameras rumoured! <3

Well the new Insta360 actioncam is not very exciting, 1080/30 doesn't look to support external power or mic and has a built in battery. Judging by its size, I can't imagine the battery will last long either.

What is with these manufacturers and making a camera that only lasts 20-30 min? Who only needs to use a camera for that long?!??11?!1

Agreed! Hence why I went with the Drift option. I lose some nice features and an amount of quality maybe but gain in battery life. High time a company gave us both!

Info from the Australian Drift distributor is that they had an internal microphone issue with the XL. They had three on test with NSW Police (bikes) and all had an internal mic fault. There is a new batch now with that problem sorted out and will be out within a couple of weeks. I’ll be getting one with a view to doing a review after a month or so of use.

I, like others have an issue with the price of gopro, sure the quality is there but its so much money, and they are not perfect, short battery life's, crashing software, mic adapters.

I opted for a TomTom Bandit as my main cam as it was about half price if not more than the Gopro at the time, battery life of 3 hours plus, huge memory capacity, decent quality footage up to 4k at 20fps. One of the other issues I have found with it is the weight, it sure ain't the lightest.

I share others want for a 360 camera in the lower price bracket and await news of this.

Im still impressed by the Tomtom Bandit! Fantastic features and battery life for the price.

One thing we tend to forgot about GoPro, they are on the cutting edge of professional footage use. Thier used by Discovery, National Geographic etc, because they are able to capture footage in the right format and lighting, all in 4K. Because their normally using the latest camera tech (actual camera and all the ancillary things around it like stabilization)

Aye your right in what your saying regarding Gopro being the market leaders and world renowned for that.

If TomTom could make another Bandit but make it a bit lighter weight I would never go away from TomTom.

Part of GoPro is the high tech.
Part of it is also being (one of) the first doing it in great numbers.
And part of it is the simple fact that the sponsor the cameras. A great advert for them if Discovery is using them. ;)

Dutch film school got 50 GoPro's last year, free of charge, to use for big projects.
So every student leaving that school will know how to work with Gopro's and what they can do. And most likely will buy at least 1 of their own, if not multiple.

Gopro is just a great marketing strategy company ;)

Just seen the GoPro video and your leeks are spot on. The thing to note is that the case (media mod) has a 3.5mm mic and USB C port as well as HDMI out. It also has the connector used to mount the camera built into the camera

Aye so without that adaptor, you still can't run an external mic! :-(
It has the 3.5mm mic port, so no need for a adaptor then anymore right?

It looks amazing, and kinda wanna get it...
Should wait for some first reviews i'm guessing. (and some prize money xD )

And probably wait for the inevitable bugs to be found and fixed.

No mate, the port is on the accessory which is a cage that wraps around the camera. The cage is also not even available on pre-order so the camera is useless currently for motovloggers.

Interesting direction that GoPro are going. Looks like they are making it more about the accessories this round, which are cool.

Quite a clever move keeping some items off the pre order list. That way folks order the cam, review it in its base from then hv to review it again with upgraded functionality once accessories are released, potentially meaning double exposure per camera sold and reviewed.

I do realise not everyone reviews everything they buy, just talking in a broad sense.
