I thought this little experiment might interest a few of you. I have not tested it on the bike yet though, will try that next time I get a day off!
In the UK the police can ask to see any footage on helmet mounted cameras so being able to have the speed edited out with a filter would reduce any chance of self incriminationIt works but its very hard to get right. You have to remember your head is moving all the time, so there will be times the angle is wrong.
I've thought about doing it, but then I think why am I trying to hide. If the police ever came to my door after something I did on a youtube video I'd be more surprised that they watched it.![]()

It's not a race, it's a rally!Obviously I never speed, but others who may, might find this useful! ;-)
It is any camera unfortunatelyIt's not a race, it's a rally!
I wonder, if the direction of the sun, will affect the readability also. Sure, the two polarizing filters should cancel each-other out, in theory, like with the monitor, but what if the light is too strong, and will still come through?
Also, another workaround, if it is clearly stated "helmet mounted cameras," do like I do - use a chesty![]()

I just inserted a disclaimer in my last video that my speedo is off, which is totally false, but makes any evidence invalid ;>
Wouldn't that make you automatically a lawbreaker, for riding a vehicle, that is technically not sound?I just inserted a disclaimer in my last video that my speedo is off, which is totally false, but makes any evidence invalid ;>
It works pretty well, the video in this link shows the dash when riding with the filter fitted to the camera:So, @HippoDrone how have the results been? Does it work?
After the ride home I had yesterday I think I should look into this.
As I don't have one I'll just choose to delete all the footage. Nothing to see here.
