Can I Be Honest???????

I've used Go Pro Studio for all my videos except for 1. Back in the day Ive used a much older version of Premiere and After effects. They generate huge files and can be slow working with exporting etc. but it really does everything and is great quality, but that's why its super expensive too. But for trimming and compiling and basic editing, go pro is perfect. When i was using premiere etc. I was editing a star wars fan film, so i dont see the need if serious effect editing being needed for a motovlog yet. Ive got Trakax which was about 20 buks and its an awesome program with heaps of tools to use. It'll suffice for the few different edits i may come across.
 
All of the editors will pretty much do the same thing, although I use Adobe Premiere and I do prefer it to some others I've used (but this is mainly due to being used to Adobe products such as Photoshop etc, plus you can import PSD files and fiddle with the layers quite simply). You can get cracks for any editing software nowadays, worth looking at those and if you need any advice there'll be loads of info on here / other forums on how to download and install.
I'd help but I'm not that amazing at cracks.
 
Getting cracked versions are such a drag. Paying $500 a year for Adobe products is even more of a drag. I might switch over to something more affordable at some point to be honest

If you do decide to download it, make sure you check all the "check boxes" and de-select any spam that it will try to download with it.

I used to use Windows Movie Maker for all of my edits, but Vegas 10 Pro is a great upgrade

im using avs its ok but im crap at editing im slowly learning to edit avs is miles ahead of movie maker thats what i was using before hand
 
Wondershare Filmora also was a great, cheap and easy software to begin out on. Lots of effects and easy to master quikcly. Im still using it today but am learning and transitioning to Sony Vegas 13.
 
Just keep practicing, it should get alot easier. Make sure you know the most relevant shortcuts, this will help you speed up the proces
 
I just wanted to share how i approached my editing software; firstly I had in mind the style of video i wanted to produce, what text, colours, banners, effects i wanted and what the overall theme or feel i wanted to portray. Then I asked how the software can do this for me and went on to find the relevant tutorials; because they are out there and YouTube has them :)

Don't attempt to learn ALL the functions first ONLY those that are relevant or you will end up in a loonie bin...

So far I have only used windows movie maker for the motovlogs but recently used premier pro for a big multi camera set up. Multi tracking is a breeze with the Adobe software as long as you know how to set it up. But for simple editing, cutting and splicing clips movie maker works great!

I have mixed feelings about WLMM, loading clips just to cut them takes ages, and the quality after rendering isn't that good.
Editing in WLMM was fun for some time (when using very small clips), but now that I have Premiere Pro, I find it much faster and easier to see what i'm doing instead of trying to figure out how to put a video, voice track and some music in the editer :')


So far I've used:
- WLMM
- Premiere Pro
- Corel videostudio pro x7
- Sony Vegas Pro

Corel was nice to work with, but didn't support portrait monitors, which is sh*t.
WLMM takes a lot of time to make a preview
Vegas pro is too darn difficult to learn, so I've chosen premiere pro as my main video editer.

Maybe I just need to spend more time with Premiere pro. I'm also a sucker for free stuff :). I dont really have any issues with things taking forever in movie maker. Although I happen to have a job where I get decent computers for almost nothing along with memory. Running an HP elite workstation with an i7 processor, solid state drive for the OS and a 7200 rpm internal storage drive with 32 GB of RAM. So far it has handled all the video editing I can throw at it.
 
I'm learning on Vegas Pro. It'll take me a long time to learn and experiment with, and I'm sure it'll still be around in another 5-10 years. This way that knowledge I gain should be worthwhile for the future, instead of having to learn new software every couple years/months....leapfrogging from cheap program to program and having to learn all over again every time; using one program to do a single editing function. Do it once, do it right.

No one told you to pay for premiere pro, if you know what I mean ;)
Having a fast pc to render and edit is great, I have an FX8320e and 16gb of ram, still fast enough for premiere pro, but wlmm is just a pita for me, but if it works for you, that's great! :)
