Hd Hero 2 Still Good For Beginners?

Hi all,

Finally got a bike again, although not the HD I was expecting, got a VFR800 instead!
So now starting off properly I have an old GoPro hero 2 I used for diving a few years back. Will the quality be good enough still for vlogging or should I just wait till I can afford a better set up in summer?

The Hero 2 is decent enough. I only recently replaced mine. I had some issues with it but overall the quality of your content and editing will be much more important than the camera

Start with it, see how you get on, and you like it compared to other YT motovlog footage. If it works for you, saves shelling out another few hundred pounds. And even if you upgrade, the mounts are still compatible.

Cheers guys,

I'll give it a go. That's good advice about the mounts too, I hadn't considered that.

BbqRider did you have any favourite settings?

I'd say use the HERO 2 it's more about the content & audio quality for me, I used to watch motovlogs in 480p back when I had 1.5Mb/s Max download speed, and if you get into it and enjoy it a lot then you can upgrade and keep the HERO 2 as an additional angle camera.

Hero2 is a decent camera, sad I lost mine to the highway (it escaped). Best part of it is the direct microphone jack, no need for any microphone adapter. Drawback is no 60 FPS or super wide view. No big deal. I don't recommend using the micro SD card with adapter though, get a legit SD card, else sometimes the vibrations when you ride might screw up the video file because the micro SD is shaking within the adapter housing while recording. Or sometimes you'll get a memory card read error.
