Hi everyone,

Created my first vlog yesterday and just as many videos before it at 1280x720 in WMV format with a final file size of 920 MB. Good I thought, just pop it on Youtube - as I have done many times before. Onto the Youtube site to find a new "improved" layout. Fair enough it uploaded the video but playing it back after YT had finished processing it was crappy quality. Vastly over coloured with pixelation and towards the end large areas of blocky green. Not good" Deleted it! Created the same video in Mpeg-4 and tried again. "Sorry" (up popped a message) "We don't recognize this format".

What!!

Patiently created the video in H264 this time and also discovered in tiny print on the upload page "Use Old Method of Uploading". Great I thought and started the process. Actually got it uploaded but it reached 100% and froze on "Finishing". Opened a second instance of Firefox and looked in "My Videos" to find a blank icon of the video with an "Upload aborted" message below it. After I had finished screaming and pounding my head on the monitor it seemed a good idea to pack up for the day!

So, Youtube, if it wasn't broken why mend it?

Rant over and just wondered if other members are having similar problems? It all stems from the "improved" upload method and come to think of it their new "Your Channel" page was swiftly changed back to what I had it set on originally.

One day I might get the vlog uploaded ........

All my videos start off crappy and pixilated when they're first uploaded. After about 10-20 minutes it goes to normal quality.

Although its unrelated, your file size seems huge.

Thanks Friz and yes you are right, it is a biggish file but generally it is trying to allow for the downgrading that YT seems to do and also to allow viewing in full screen should anyone wish to do so. Will try reducing the bitrate next to see if a happy medium can be reached.

Happily the video now seems to have uploaded OK so will be embedding it in the forum soon. It still seems too color saturated now it's up than on the desktop. Will get there........ :D

When uploading it just needs to be left.

Once it says it's completed it's not. Its still processing. I made this mistake a few times I deleted the YT file as I though it was only uploaded in 240p yet I put it in 720p.

Just be paitent will it and it will improve.

I've watched your video and I must say as you cross the bridge the quality turns out to be amazing. 720p works great.
Nice Job.
