Youtube Distribution Options?

On the Youtube upload page, there is a section of distribution options, and one of them is listed as "notify subscribers".

Do most people leave that checked or unchecked? I don't want to be unnecessarily spamming people when I upload videos.

I see nothing wrong with notifying everyone. If nothing else it gives people something to watch if they aren't busy.

I say leave, it won't be spam unless you upload lots of small 10 sec clips of some small thing. More exposure and reminds your subscribers you're still around.

Doesn't it only tell those who've elected to set various notification options?

Yep, no reason to ever turn it off in my opinion.

You can notify subscribers, but take note that subscribers too have the option receive or ignore updates, if I'm not mistaken. It's like when you subscribe to a channel, there's the option:

- Send me updates
- Show only uploads in feed

I think that will override your "notify subscribers" if they uncheck for "send me updates"?

They subscribed to you, so they obviously want to see your stuff.. Leave it checked.

Yea, I say leave it checked. I know with the people I sub to, I like to get that notification when they post something new.

I thought it was the whole point of having subs? On the other hand though I have had ppl say that they recieve notifications if I like someone else's videos and I thought that was there setting not mine but may be mistaken.

Your likes can be shared to G+ and Twitter, I've never seen a YT notification telling me someone else like someone else's video.

I turn off those options when a sub a channel but if they tick notify subscribers - I get a notification in Google Plus or at the top of YouTube. It's good because life has been a bit hectic and I can't watch everything.

Yeah I had a sub ask me to turn off my notifications I was like WTF and was pretty sure it was in his settings not mine haha
