Youtube And 60fps

I'm hoping this is the correct section to put this in. How are you achieving 60fps with YouTube? I've noticed that some of my vids show at 60fps and some do not yet I really don't change much in the way of settings. Sometimes I use superview on the GoPro and sometimes not but it's always 1080p 60fps. In terms of editing software I'm using Adobe Premiere. If I view the video from the file created after editing on my iMac it shows in fabulous 1080p 60fps but if I watch it on YouTube it looks like crap even though 1080p60 HD.

I've attached an image of how the video looks, not crisp at all.

If you're shooting and RENDERING in 60 fps Youtube will always process a 60fps version.

Youtube compresses the hell out of everything, if you want better quality your hopes are only to upload in 4k or switch to a different host like Vimeo who doesn't compress as much but has less audience.

When you are at the export settings when exporting, click the "maximum rendering" check mark as that helps. The better quality the exported file is, the better the video will look after youtubes compression.

Have you checked to see that the settings in the YouTube player are set to 1080? Its usually set to auto and will decide a res for you. Mine usually always goes to 720 and have to change it myself to run 1080.

How soon are you checking on YT?

It doesn't reencode all resolutions immediately, so check back a couple of hours later, if you haven't already done so.

I can see the "HD" on the settings cog icon, so my assumption is that you've manually changed the YT player setting to play the HD setting at 60 FPS.

Verify that when you are exporting/rendering your file, it is rendering at the correct FPS, sometimes default render settings are not correct.

The format you are exporting/rendering to should be compatible to the formats that YT supports, you can check that on YT help section.

Nice MTS BTW.

Good info, thank you. Other people's 1080p60 HD looks better than mine so I'm sure it's something I'm doing, just not sure what since some of my own videos look better than some of my other videos. I've just about finished editing this new video and I've double checked that it's set to 60fps and now that I've ensured it was set to 60fps on import and export, I'm almost certain it's been at 29.97 in the past. I appreciate all the feedback!
