YouTube Analytics - Traffic Sources

I was wondering what the normal is for traffic sources?

Mine has changed quite a lot from how it looked in my first 28 days to now. I wonder if YouTube actually promotes new channels more than we thought?

I think it is great to have a good balance.

I also wonder regarding my comment about YouTube promoting, maybe they don't promote new channels more, it is just that I had so much less searcahble content and a smaller reach outside of YouTube?

How has your "Traffic sources" changed from the first month to the last?

My 1st 28 days is zero so its changed hugely.

My top 3 are Browse, Suggested and external (with facebook and reddit being the top 2)

My personal opinion is youtube will "reward" channels with high external viewing as its bringing people into youtube that weren't already there.

As for what they do and don't advertise / promote, we really have no idea what other users see.

Well, your suggested went down, so does that mean youtube is less favoriting you?
That would be a downside then?

it is a percentage, so that may have dropped, although more likely as I have a lot more videos now the others increased in watchtime thus increasing their percentage overall to bring it closer to the amount of suggested videos!

My guess is that it depends on how you phrase your title, your meta key words/tags, what viewers are watching and how similar it is to your video in order for YT to suggest it to viewers.. Just my guess.

Seriously though, reminds me of some math problems back in grade school - if 100 viewers show up to a party and half have pants on but the next night YouTube send 3/4 with pants on one leg only then what time is it Zulu time?

I guess in a way it is good that nobody really knows how it works, otherwise if people knew, then everyone would be doing the same thing to "hack" the algorithm and that only leads to them having to change the algorithm to prevent people from cheating.

However some of the fundamental rules still apply.. Do stupid/dangerous shit, share it, get viral, get famous.

Mine remains vastly YouTube search. I'm definitely not as active as before though, and haven't found my niche yet, so idk lol.
