I have to agree with the %age as people have said in the comments. doing it for the amount of time watched isnt fair to those uploading short videos. I may start uploading longer videos haha

I think Google is smart enough to know that. They're also going to recognize that videos that aren't super long are more popular by default. It wouldn't surprise me a bit to find out that the algorithm they've come up with is incredibly complex and looks at both the percentage watched as well as total length and time watched. One thing they're probably not going to do is tell us exactly how it works.

Its seems to be helping me. The last few days I've seen a spike in views, subscribers and revenue and I haven't uploaded anything in almost a month

It may just be a coincidence though.

I rekon it's an attempt at killing off 'reply whores' - those channels where people make 20 second video replies to any popular video, 100s of them a day...

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense though. Those women make Google as much money as they make for themselves. The ones that were given partnership anyway.

Well that's the reason why I got 60 new subs in two weeks when I normally get like two subs a month LOL :lol:

This should be beneficial to motovloggers, as our videos aren't short.
