You tube content thief

Bloody bastards! I guess there's no way to check if this has happened unless you stumble across it?
Nope - TheXTDonkey did just that - he stumbled across it and let me know. Could be happening anywhere. I guess you could try searching for key content from your vids and see if you find any pirated content, but who has the time?

I guess the search would depend on if they had lifted the whole video or just a bit of it for the compilations. If I found footage used without permission, nor was there a credit and they had monetised it, I'd flag it. If it was a genuine "we like your work" compilation and it was up for free with credit, I'd leave it, but message them to say that I'd like to be asked in the future.

yeah, channel gone. seems like i missed all the fun :)

what i wanted to say is. u mentioned that your watermark is gone. that youtube (click and subscribe) watermark isn t included if someone downloads a video of youtube. you might want to edit one in. so "they" actually have to remove it

It's still happening - a channel called "Laugh World" has uploaded 100's of videos in the last 3 days - all stolen, one of them was MrCods so it's gonna be gone soon.
Getting very consistent comments :p

The video you linked there CC has been made private now.

Edit: And you can't get back to the channel that uploaded it from that page.

It's hard to keep track of all the videos, best way is to put a big huge watermark on the video, possibly right in the center (but drop the opacity), doesn't mean people won't rip them, just that they can't crop it off. Reporting to YouTube is tedious as heck, that's no help either. The form to fill up can't be auto-completed most of the details are all the same, just video being reported and original video URL are different, yes you can report a few videos (up to 4 I think) per report but sometimes the amount is just too much. There must be a simpler way, YouTube has the complainer's (it must be the original content owner) ID so what's the purpose of all that verification stuff, if a fraudulent complaint is made the complainer gets penalized instead, people won't simply make false reports.

Here's the channel:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSF4xzHqe2hU9Ehn0anai4Q/videos

and he has made all the videos private (there were a couple of hundred - all uploaded in the last 3 days)
Obviously trying to get away with it - I reckon the channel will be gone on a day or 2 - that's how long the last thief's channel lasted

So was he stealing entire videos and editing out identifiable logos etc? Couldn't think how I'd search for any of my stuff, if anyone would want to nick it...

Sometimes they use back the same title or tags so when you see your video or related video, the "recommended" videos sometimes shows the one someone ripped off from yours.

I don't actively search around for any videos people ripped, but if I do come across then I'll just report it.

Had a quick search of a few biking terms - biker, biker, filtering, snake pass, m25 and nothing came up. Chucked in a couple of local features that I regularly ride and have been uploaded but nothing popped up that I recognised.

They won't use the same tags as you in a compilation, it will be crap like "funny", "crash", "ass" etc.

I've nothing funny, not crashed (yet), and my ass stays in the stable... Am I safe from piracy?! :)

Yup, that is exactly it. As mentioned previously; Bigger channels will actually have their subscribers come forward when they find videos of yours that others have uploaded. This has not happened to me as of yet.

I don't get what's their motivation behind it. Of cause, they might get views, subscribers and likes, but as soon as they get reported their channel is gone. And even if their channel lasts a while there is no huge satisfaction, because they stole all the content, but maybe they are just that dumb that they don't get it!

If they're monetised and it runs, everything to gain really, Google will only take back the money from videos where there's a complaint.
