I ride to the right of the centre,

Wouldn't that mean your riding in the oncoming lane ?, Shouldn't it be "left of Centre" ..... excuse me if im wrong lol, i'm kinda tired LOL

lol I think he means right of the center of his lane, so just left of the markings. xD

I was thinking about the gopro footage from behind as well but from the looks of it the case looks empty. =[

This is what I saw...

I saw an inexperienced ped rider with L plates not being "the perfect motorist" in his positioning entering the roundabout, being slow in the roundabout then slightly wandering to the right exiting the roundabout.

I also saw an impatient, angry old man being "stuck" and "held up" behind the slowped rider, slowly getting angrier and angrier to the point where he saw or even made a gap on the exit with tunnel vision that was then inadvertantly closed by the rider.

When the driver's lovely Jag's shiney paint was "threatened" by this 2nd class citizen on a bike, the driver gave himself some sort of validation to blow his lid at the poor rider.

My views are usually a little different because I try to look at the bigger picture, seeing if I can work out the events leading up to an incident rather than just the incident itself.

Bottom line

The rider did nothing wrong other than being inexperienced and relatively slow on the roundabout.

The old guy needs prosecuting for being aggressive, dangerous and threatening not to mention being a total bully!

I also don't like people's comments on that video saying the old man was a C**t and needed smacking etc as this would just reinforce this old idiots views of what a motorcyclist is, we need to do it a little better than the motorist and prove we are not just thugs like he was or chavs.

The scooter rider dealt with it admirably and if scared, had every right to be! He needs to find a serving police officer who would be prepared to follow this through.

what did he have on the back of his bike again? Oh yeah L PLATES! THAT MEANS LEARNER!!! The driver should have seen this and given him more space and time!

Thankfully it sounds like the rider involved is dealing with the situation intelligently.

Believe me, attacking the driver would DEFINITELY not improve matters. It might work in games, but not in the real world.

ahhh this pisses me off so much, and the fact that the police do sweet fuckall about it.

Yes, a scooter with L plates is going the speed limit, bloody deal with it.

Good on the biker to handle it the way he did, some people are just assholes.

I think they're both at fault personally. Yes the car driver is a complete and utter a'hole and the hard braking afterwards was a malicious thing to do and I'd be fighting him all the way to the courts, but the rider put himself in the situation. As others have said, stick to the middle of your lane, don't give cars a gap to aim for otherwise they'll take it. I also suspect he had the driver up his arse round the roundabout and was trying to slow him up a bit based on the mirror observations to his right just before the coming too. At the end of the day we're the vulnerable ones and no matter who is right or wrong, we need to ride defensively at all times.

Yes his road positioning was not ideal, but that cannot be used as an excuse for this collision. The scooter rider was a learner driver, displaying 'L' plates. That Jag driver was totally at fault. Firstly he overtook on a single track road, and then he swerved into the path of the rider and braked hard. The rider deserves a medal for stopping in that distance without crashing. I would imagine this will be an open and shut case with the insurance companies.

This is the reason why my camera is always recording, you never know when you might come across somebody like this.

Although this is true, I have a very calm temper and just let things pass. Sometimes I build up the much temper and just snap and I think I would of honestly hit and not stopped :(

This is -precisely- why every foot of every ride I take is recorded. I still don't understand why the police weren't called to the scene though. I sure as shit wouldn't have given that guy anything until ordered to do so by someone with actual authority. Fuck that. It's his fault, what does he need your insurance information from.

Hell, I probably would have been on the phone with the police right after breaking his jaw with armored knuckles. With the way he stopped and came out of the car pleading self defense/fear for ones personal safety would have definitely worked.

+1

He's obviosuly seen the L plates, Which alot of road users see L plates as younger rider. Intimidated the guy. Standing over someone while you talk to them is not a nice way to start an conversation let alone an argument.

If he was a possible 'threat' to my saftey I would have tango neutralized him.

Same here. One crash I had I would have dragged her out of her window and beaten her to death I was so angry - luckily after hitting me she'd stopped so far away she was at a safe distance until I calmed down. Another crash I've taken it very calmly and the one who hit me then actually gave me a lift home afterwards.

With someone coming towards me aggressively after doing that (in the vid), I have absolutely no doubt I would have flipped. And he deserved it.

Sure, I'd probably get in Trouble for that, but there aren't many Courts who would convict someone for getting a few hits in under those circumstances - as long as you stopped after he was already dead. :D

I'm glad it wasn't me.

Also - for those saying the ped riders road positioning was wrong... watch the end of the video. He's on a short feeder road with a give way at the end onto a main road. I'd say being on the right-centre of his lane was just about perfect, and it's exactly where I'd be on the lead up to that junction.

Yeah watching it a second time looks worse. I thought there were two lanes to begin with. In that case I would be speaking to a solicitor and my insurer.
