Do you think that having links to your YouTube videos on other people's blogs such as Wordpress helps?

Yea that will work, depending the blog in question actually has traffic etc.

Main thing is, getting people willing to post your video or content as their website. Most won't unless there's a really good reason

Yea true, but the web crawlers like backwards links so even if the blog isn't that busy it will rank a lot higher.

Agreed I might look out for a vlogger I like, same stage and similar subscribers and swap some links and post some reciprocal videos

Not quite. It used to be the number of links wins the game but not anymore, far from it.

Reciprocal links works on websites but often short lived and rarely does much other than causes ranking issues etc. However for ranking videos it's a different ball game within reason

If you can blag a mention on a decent site then do it but I wouldn't just do it for the sake of it
