Why Do You Ride?

PAHA! YES.
Great answers guys. You know there was like a 140 page document released by the Australian government about the psychology of riding? Pretty interesting. We're less stressed apparently, well, apart from when some prick cuts us up.

any chance you'd have a link to that? i remember reading some research project found that riding has some preventative effect on getting dementia later in life but can't seem to find it. always interested in that kind of thing.

i ride as an antidote to mid life crisis, which i could spell out in several pages of blathering on but managed to sum it up nicely in a vid if it's okay to post it here... no insult intended toward harley riders in this, it does tend to make fun of everyone including ourselves but does have a serious note too. :)

thanks b9y, some interesting stuff in there.... :)

"....All riders interviewed agreed that performing stunts on city streets was a dangerous thing to do, yet some riders who held this view still performed stunts in traffic conditions. This behaviour appeared to be usually motivated by a desire to ‘show off’ rather than gaining personal satisfaction from perfecting a stunt. When motivated by personal satisfaction, a suitable time and place was planned to perfect such manoeuvres...."

saw another post like this earlier as I feel my answers are the same

Just started riding for the first time 3 months ago back in 9/2015

1. Freedom - The ability to just get up and go (and go quickly)
2. Entertainment - I have never had a better time than I have on my motorcycle and a $9 to fill my tank I cant complain (2 months 3k miles)
3. Quality Of Life - I have never been more happy or satisfied with my life or myself as I have been the last few months
(which is why my bike being down since mid December has almost killed me, looking at CBR600RR tomorrow finger crossed)
