I passed my Mod 2 and now hold an A2 license, but I can't find an insurance company that will insure me on a restricted bike! I'm looking at getting a 2011 ER6 restricted. I'm just a bit lost now....

Edit, I just called another company who wanted to charge me double my car insurance! I have a Grande Punto 1.4.
Anyone got a 47bhp restricted bike insured yet? I'll keep you updated.

Lol, you should probably be happy it's only twice your car insurance. Here in Sweden insurance premiums on younger people is insane. I have a brand specific insurance for my beemer, wich is decently priced, but other bikes I've looked at comes in at (the equivalent of) £1500-2000 and in some cases even more, per year. The most extreme (though I understand why) was a ZZR1400 (ZX-14) wich landed at a nice £12000 a year.
The insurance companies don't like people on motorbikes, especially if they're young.

and im over here in the us trying to find something better that $380.00 for the year. lol im also 20
sorry it cost u so much

Well the cheapest I've found is £780 for the year, which monthly works out 'ok' :| Over £300 more than my current 125cc insurance. My car insurance is in the region of £850, so I reckon I've just got a good deal on my car rather than bad (well it's still a lot) quotes on my bike :P

£780 doesn't seem too far out, my insurance is currently £680 with four years NCB and no accidents.

Are you declaring restriction as a mod? Will definitely push your insurance up. My insurer (CIA) don't class it as a mod, whereas others apparently do. At the end of the day, you are undoubtedly a higher risk on the ER6, which explains why there's a £300 difference in your premiums.

be lucky youre not in Canada, Im paying 155 a month for a 250

the best part about it is its not even needed to ride here witch is cool but if u have a wreak ur f...eddd.

You kind of have to ask yourself if the insurance is even worth it. On my 250 it was only worth $4500 but insurance companies wanted me to pay $1500 a year to cover it plus $1500 excess if I got in an accident. All I had to do was not crash for a year and I e Brocken even!

Third party property fire and theft was $150 a year so I just took that out.

wow......other countries are rediculous.....I live in Ny and I pay 250 for a year.....given that my bike is only a 400 and is considered an on road off road.

I'm so glad i passed a while ago now, I'm 22 with a full Licence passed at 17. (with the old way)

I pay £350 a year for Fully comp + multi Bike (To ride my 2 road bikes + Anyother bike insured by another party)
I'v had 1 Crash my fualt, 1 Theft.

This is with Swinton bikes. I wish you the best of luck getting insured.. Robbing tw@ts.

Are you living in a war zone and declaring you keep your keys in the bike in teh middle of teh street??

Fully comp on my ZX9R is around £120. I'm paying about £68 fc on my GPZ500 on a separate policy (they wanted £500 more to add it to my ZX9R one?!).

My 1999 1.4 Honda Civic Sport costs £280, and I've only had the car license 2 years.

I am 36 and getting a bald patch, though. :(

Most I paid for insurance was £1400 for a VFR750 when I was using it for courier work!

Unfortunately it seems age plays a really big role since the premiums are worked out largely on statistics and the figures come up that 17-25 is the biggest risk group so they end up having to fork out the most. It's irritating how at the age when you have the least financial stability things cost so much more but I guess its just how it is.

£62 for fully comp on my Bandit with Bennetts, only passed my bike test 15 months ago....

But then I am 42 and live in a place that time, and everything else forgot!

It definitely seems like age plays I big part...

I've been running quotes for a ZX6R recently in anticipation of passing my Mod 1 and 2 and graduating to a bigger bike next season, I'm getting quotes maybe 10% more than I'm currently paying on my 125. in the region of £300-400 for the year fully comp thats with any NCB and license not held yet.

I'm 29 and been driving for 10 years, 1 current speeding conviction active

Perhaps they think my bald patch is from so many people patting me on the head and telling me I'm a good boy?
