Why Are The Greats So Great?

If you've gained you subs by wheelies (or whatever) then you probably feel you need to keep pandering to that audience. I bet his demographics are quite different from, say, RJs. Both give their subs what they want. If either changed their style quite drastically, I'm sure they'd lose views, at least in the short term.

He's got an infant daughter at this point. I was hoping he'd grow up a tad and keep the squid stuff offroad and in back alley stunt practice areas. I unsub'd after seeing that. The biggest vloggers need to do a better job role modeling for the kids looking to get into riding. It's not like we need any more dead teens and 20-somethings.
Sadly im at that point too.. unsub unless it gets a little more, serious?

Then again, its jake... we cant expect him to change just cause we want it.

What Kuhlka said! Its not big. It's not clever and it's boring to watch over and over and over and over and.....

A good channel should be like a buffet. If all you ever throw at your viewers is apple pie, they're eventually going to get sick of it.

My favorite MotoVlogger is bakerXderek. He has the scenery, the personality and the adventures that drew me in. He made me want to be part of the community even though I could only vlog in a car at the time. I have just recently started motovlogging after buying my bike.

+1 for BakerxDerek. He had me at me gusta...

New to motovlogging (editing my 3rd), I started actually "plotting" my topics and my specific points and opinions to make—then reading your comments makes me think I should just let it all flow! (Although it isn't as natural for me because English is my third language)

I'm really learning a lot here in this site. I'm not a full-time YouTuber either, I [last-minute] backed out of a multi-channel deal because I didn't want to treat YouTube content creating as a profession. I'd like to think of it as nothing more than having fun and recording it

(I mean so thanks ya'll)

Back to topic: What makes me like The Greats are their personality, more than anything. Hunter Honda is my favorite, I'm surprised no one mentioned him here yet

I don't think many of the greats are "great".
Great to me means they move me, they make me laugh and cry, they impress me more by their personality than by their sub count or number of "I crashed" videos, they give me food for thought and they ENGAGE with me.
Each to their own, of course, but I find more interest in the channels who really do engage with their audience than the ones who are desperate for numbers... (a quote here from Alan Boulter, who really nut-shelled for me the difference between a channel with 300 to a few thousand subs who really follow you and one with 100000+ who are neither engaging or engaged)...
"in the early days I did hang around with some less salubrious types; who are now a distant memory vlogging away to a less mature but adoring audience"

But - like I said - each to his own, this is just how I see it :)

His weird words and grunts put me off, just like More bad ideas. He just got too, weird

In defense of bakerXderek, he talks just like that in-person, just a little toned down. Great guy if you ever get a chance to chat him up.
