Am just curious who tick the box for organ donor on their driving license?
Because I had a discussion with my mates and they said I should of because am on a bike.
So just wondering if any of you have it on your license.

A bit random, I know :D

if I should go, on the bike or not. they can use whatever is still good. I have been an organ donor before I even started riding. its just the way I feel... hell I aint going to be using the parts.

Why would being on a bike matter? Do your friends ride too?
I don't think it does just looking at others perspecstives. My opinion was if I was heavily injuryed while riding which caused death. my organs won't be any good. Unfortenaly not "I'm all by myself"

The Reason why I am not up for it is beacuse imagining someone else having a part of me inside them freaks me out. Pretty selfish but am sorry.

The reason I asked why riding a bike matters is because you said your friends told you that you should be a donor because you ride a bike.

I've been a donor since I was 17. I don't really like the thought of my eyes going, that's just a bit weird, but I'll never know the difference anyway.

I personally, am in two minds about this - as with giving blood. Whilst Liking the idea of being able to help sombody in the same way that I could one day require a replacement organ to live, I find myself way to uncomforatable about the idea. I really start feeling sick when I think about having blood and organs taken from my body.

Well. I bit the bullet and registered online, it was so easy. Only things ill be holding onto are eyes (mine ar crap anyway) and tissue.

I signed up to be an organ donor last year once I started my bike lessons. Only thing they aint getting is my eyes and pancreas. Could just imagine this,

Doc: Hey good news and bad news. Good news, you've got your new pancreas from a donor. Bad news... you're now Diabetic. Hahaha.

Don't know of you can add the donor thing to your licence after you've already signed up.

about the eyes thing... my stepfather was an organ donor, when he passed several of his organs were matched, including his retinas... as my mom said.
"now someone else has his fucked up view of the world"

I'm already missing a few organs so I'd rather keep what I've got. Plus the idea of getting split up and put in other people is kinda.....blech to me.

I didn't know there was an option on the drivers license.. I'm looking at my card now and still don't see it, is it on the paper counterpart? I carry a "Gift of Life" card though that shows I am a donor. I don't care what happens to the stuff if I'm gone. I would like to hope it would go to someone deserving, and not someone who paid their way to the top of any lists. Have been a donor for as long as I can remember, nothing to do with riding a bike. I want to be cremated anyhows, so hopefully I'll get a discount if I'm not fully intact =)

I don't think anyone will want my parts, they be well used by now and a lot of the parts are faulty.

But yea, I agree about the eyes :)

I don't get your points about the eyes or anything else.

Why would you care? You'll be dead! You won't be around to mind anyway! Why does the idea of having any organ removed make you sick, you'll be dead. You can't be sick if you're dead.

My family and best friends know two things:

1 - If I die, give 'em everything they want, sell what they don't want, and burn the rest.

2 - If I become tetraplegic, get me to a country where euthanasia is legal and end me. Asap.

I don't care if these views are considered as moral or not. They're practical. They're realistic. They're cheap. And they're mine.

They can have what they want when I'm gone, I'm not in the least bit bothered.

If anyone needs a penis reduction they can have mine when I die.

No, Its selfish, but no. I don't like the idea of being cut up and having bits put in other people or used for science. :/ Sorry but thats how I feel about it. Everyone else in my family is though so it makes up for it.

I'm not an organ donor on advise from my good friend who is a transplant surgeon.

According to him if you are brought in to a hospital after a bad wreck or other accident; the first thing the E.R. doctors on duty want to know is if you are an organ donor. If you are a donor they do a quick check to find out "how far gone" you are, and if you are right on the line between living and dying some(of course not all) docs will let you go instead of fighting for you. Reason: They make a judgement call, you might not make it anyway and the organs can't be harvested in most cases if they try to save you and fail.(because of the drugs that will be left in your blood and organs from the attempt to save you)

He told me if you really want to be an organ donor without being concerned about premature death at the hands of docs just doing their best to get their job done... Tell you parents or spouse or children your request and let them know that you want to be a donor AFTER death or being brain dead. In those instances you have zero hope of recovery and honestly once your body is in the hospital your family has time(hours in most cases) to make a decision since even after death they can hook you up to machines to keep you viable for a while.
