General Who Else Does This?

I love looking at google earth when I have the time and searching out new off road opportunities and then investigating them further :) Sometimes the areas have no gates or signs and sometimes they are locked up tight! I don't like to go through a locked gate but if I can find a way in that is had no gate or sign I will explore thoroughly! Is this common practice for those of you with dual sport bikes - the google earth searching? Do you street guys look for nice twisty roads on the map before heading out for a ride?

As always, feedback is more than welcome! I'm new! lol

I use google earth for scouting new roads.
i havent ever been on a dirt bike yet
Good to hear I am not the only one! I enjoy it :)

I have never been on a true dirt bike, which I hear is about 100 lbs lighter than the dual sport model mine is (crf250L) which has 50/50 tires and a engine more similar to the CBR sport bike than the CRF dirtbikes

But since it is the first and only bike I have riden I cant really compare to others too well!

I used to hit dirt roads all the time when I had my 50cc dirtbike. Didn't have to Google earth tho, as I was fairly familiar with the hills around my home. Rode far into the mountains sometimes.

Yeah, that's how I have found some good roads. Even uncovered some local groups that saved routes on google maps. Don't you just love the internet!

I need to find me a local dual sport group that has some saved routes! I am just figuring out how to make a route on google and transfer it to gps on my phone with way points etc...its time consuming so I usually just look and then recon the area using my memory of what I saw on google lol :)

Yep. That's what I do. Check it out and try and remember it. Otherwise I enjoy going out and getting lost and finding some great spots.
