Which Gopro Mic Adapter?

Bruiser5K

Looking for a supermoto
I have everything I need to start doing motovlogs on my quad, I was just wondering which mic adapter I should buy for my GoPro. There are many out there, but are the cheaper ones really just as good as the GoPro brand one?

I bought this one from Ebay, and it seems to do the job, spend your cash on a decent microphone though. The very cheap ones have issues with peaking and noise.

eBay adapters are hit and miss. I bought two and both were wrong and didn't work. for the GoPro Hero 3 and newer, you have to get a 10-pin mini USB adapter. Many of the inexpensive ones are 5-pin and will not work.

The one that @F4celess linked looks to be a 10-pin and should work, but I didn't have luck. I just made my own.

I bought it twice since the first got lost, both were identical and working. It should be mentioned that it's not as pictured though. it goes straight out from the USB, as opposed to an angled plug.

I ordered some of the cheap right angle ones from amazon and some resistors. Im trying to figure out how to make the ones that dont turn off the internal mic work correctly. I will let you guys know that experiment turns out in about a week.

If they are 5 pin, they simply won't. If they are 10 pin I can tell you how. Let me know.

they are 10 pin. I measured the resistor value on the official gopro adapter and I have that value here at work to try on the cheap right angle adapters when they come in.

Cool. From what I know, a 100k will set it to video output mode and a 300k will set it for audio input. I used a 330k if I remember correctly.

I use the original, or i did until i bent it while fitting a new mic to my helmet. Now, I'm back to using a BOYA one which seems to be good but very similar to the go pro one. The low profile ones never worked for me.

I bought a cheap microphone with the adapted built in from China - works fine! But heard stories how the 'replicas' are shite
