Saw this while watching a pursuit out of L.A.. Wait for the camera to pan back.

Maybe the riders were like, "Beep, beep. I got someplace to be!"

I guess lane splitting/filtering in the UK is so common and generally expected, we'd not bat an eyelid at that. A lot of vehicles including police cars often move out of the way of a filtering bike over here, although we do get the odd car that intentionally blocks us, they are often quickly dispatched with a friendly wave of a middle finger!

The video is just the news feed from the helicopter so you won't hear anyone other than the pilot/newsman.This is right before the bikes lane split.

The SUV behind the black and whites is also CHP. So three in total. The red and blue strobes are just to each side of the front plate and then there are the overheads getting washed out by the sun.

I don't think I would have done the split on this but hey, it was hot!

Jeez, why didn't they take it out when the bus was in the way? Could have stopped that with just one extra car pretty easily.
It is a weird situation, I imagine to the bikers the SUV was not an obvious vehicle being pursued as it was only driving at 50mph tops. The cop car did seem to move out the way of the bikes too so again seemed happy for them to pass.

Why is this going live on TV?
As for the bikes, it is legal to split and they (police) were going slow. I would have gone by as well.
