Hey guys,

My brother and I were riding around town this morning (he rides a 50cc pit bike road legal) and his bike can easily lift the front wheel up... Just so happened to be a police officer 20 meters down the road out of sight.

So we both end up getting pulled over as we were riding together, and the cop deals him with a $600 fine for doing a wheelie under the boy racer act here in NZ.

Just seemed a little to big of a fine for me and I was wondering what sort of fines you guys have had and what have the police acted like towards you?

Lets here your stories!

hear in the uk i had 2 coppers lie take me to court and revoke my licence for pulling a tiny wheelie.

they said i wheelied past them down the middle of the road at excees speed over 30mph but they cant prove it so cant ticket me for that.

i ride a 125 thats likely to happen isent it. id rather the 600 fine then haveing to wait and pay to retake my test

Hey Gank... next time, dont stop. You have to ask yourself 'whats the point'? Here they confiscate your vehicle and have it crushed under "hoon legislation". I'd rather risk any additional fine imposed for fleeing. Stupid laws that encourage law breaking. I saw news reports just yesterday from here saying police quotas have increased for traffic infringements, but quotas for solving serious crime have been lowered from 74% clearance rate to 71%. Theres no money in solving crimes!

@Nerb,

That's a good point, but it was my brother that got pulled up and it's the only pit bike I've seen that's road legal and can not exceed 50 kph so the cops can easily notice it or even catch up with it. Also he's a bit of a dumb kid when it comes to getting pulled over by police as he always argue's with them and makes everything worse, I just sat by laughing the whole time :D

Cop's are the same all over the world though. I've been watching the video's on YouTube where they are so ignorant to bikers that obey the rules and technically speaking "Don't give a Eff" about the squids and retards that's try to kill themselves and others on the way. So I can't wait for my Drift Hd to arrive so if I get pulled over I can show you guys how they are over here (hoping I never do though haha)

^^^ I remember this. I saw you wheelie and my heart started racing and all I was thinking was "please get away, get away, get away"
Up until you pulled over I was still hoping you somehow got away.

In the US we can actually get tickets for accelerating too quickly. Not a wheelie, just too much acceleration, even under the speed limit.
"exhibition of speed"
Truth be told, it's rare though.

"No person shall engage in any motor vehicle exhibition of speed, or aid and abet in any such exhibition, upon any highway. This offense includes excessive acceleration so as to cause the tires to scream loudly and lose traction. (Grier (1964) 226 Cal.App.2d 360; 38 Ops. Atty. Gen. 102.)"
This specifically sites burning out, but who is to decide what sound came out of the pipe and not the tire and what exactly defines "loud"

//just making it up as they go

I do that more than once in the stang... And it's in my CarVlogs. I live for "exhibition of speed". Never got a ticket for that one though. Speeding yes, but never the acceleration part. (which leads to speeding 9 out of 10 times...)

ariderslife: I saw that vid not too long ago. "Have you ever had your bike impounded?" <- As soon as I heard that I knew they don't screw around in Australia.

TDT-
Yeah, sometimes I troll the other bikers or cars. Haul ass to the speed limit, then quickly slow to maintain it. Leaves them realizing I could pace them haha

And apparently they don't mess about! But with all the hot aussie chicks with the sexy accents, I don't get how!!

lol. i do the same. i love the accel of a bike. it's crazy.

in VA here in the states it's a wreckless driving. pretty expensive to my knowledge. had one in 07 i think for 92 in a 55. cost me 300+ plus a suspended license. others get jail time. friend of mine had a cop threaten for a wreckless when he was warming his tires.

yeah, the cops can be (expletive) sometimes.
I just try to avoid the confrontation.
I'm in the area then I leave it quickly.
