It's not worth the risk to ride at night with the poor visibility these tinted visors have.

Look after yourself.
It is a compromise. You get less light into your eyes, after a few minutes your eyes compensate and you have less chance of becoming {I cannot find the proper word} temporarily blind because of the incoming cars headlights. Here some idiots are used to replace incandescent bulbs with xenons directly, not modifying the optics, they flood the street with light.

i guess it depends more on specific times. anything after sun up is okay. after 9-ish is wonderful because you miss the work traffic. have the road to yourself. afternoon after 3-4 until about dark seems to stay very busy around here. then after dark you have to worry about the fuzzy animals that want a 60mph hug. so here, late morning is great.

At night is bad over here. no one is watching out for bikes at night and it is hard to see us on bikes at night.

Out of the two I would say morning. People get way more pissed off when they are about to be late to work than on the way back. Although it's pretty close. I have great respect for the bikers here in Texas that commute. I will probably never commute on a motorcycle here once I get my license and bike. 1. you can't lane-split and 2. people can't see my mustang or grand marquis. How the hell are they going to see my future bike? (I will make sure they can hear it tho...).

Winter time when the sun is low in the sky and right in peoples eyes, worse when the road is wet and it just glares off the ground.

Statistically in the UK it is a Sunday Afternoon.

For me it is the afternoon rush hour with tired drivers thinking about dinner or the pub anything rather that their driving.

Why Sundays I wonder?

Morning seems obvious as everyone is starting work at a similar time whereas afternoon people stagger home times due to work load or meeting friends after work, or whatever they do..

What I learned in Driver's Ed was twilight... but then again, that was back in the 1990's when we had textbooks from the 1970's  ~.....

I would say the evening. Reason being is that there generally that people start their jobs at different times in the morning, so its a little more staggered. Where as in the evening, everyone leaves at about 5-5:30pm, so there is a huge rush to get home.

Here in Mumbai, India, you are worse off riding in the evenings. Mostly because all the heat accumulated through the day is radiating. Early mornings are best.

I would say evenings but that's just because I finish work at 1600 and then have to make my way through all the people carrier doing the school run, and drivers of people carriers or Chelsea tractors just don't look out for bikes

Evening. People are in too much of a rush to get home from a long day at work. I Ride with a reflective vest when the sun goes down, I don't let my EGO get in the way. Both times of the day have their risks..rushing to work because sleep feels amazing, and rushing home because....well, no reason at all.
