which camera do you vlog in and why did you choose that camera im looking for one cheap if possible. also if you have a go pro does it shake? i would think it would if you use it on the top of your helmet. also what cameras have you used in the past

Drift or contour are most suitable for vlogging, drift is cheaper but is plagued with issues (truely the most disgusting amount of returns I've seen of a single line of products)

GoPro (since hero 2) is great for us who want videos with all the detail preserved and a lot more control over the final look in post production.

And you made a valid point about the GoPro moving with vibrations. It defiantly is not the best way to mount the camera, and does need to be secured to ensure it stays in the same position. They use hardended plastic mounts with no rubber washers which gives it very little friction with pressure applied. If you do go down the route of Gopro, my advice is to sand down the mounting points to give it a rougher edge since there is not enough room for washers to be added.

what issues are there with the drift hd also i like the contour look small low profile cameras are best in my opinion any issues with contour and what all comes in the package does it have a mic and when im done recording and upload it can it be raw or do i have to put the sound and the video together from different files

Google Drift hd issues, there's a lot lol!

The ghost seems to be holding up reasonably well but it's a bit pricey. Contour are much more reliable, there are some known issues with the +2 but generally good.

thats insane thanks for the info what issues does the +2 contour have??

Ignore that, looked into it further same guys moaning about poor audio but most likely due to wind insulation and doesn't effect external mic.

contour + 2 is a winner for a helmet camera in my books.

I use a contour roam with a dictaphone to vlog. I find its cheaper than getting a camera with microphone inputs, and I get better audio quality.

No camera is perfect for night recording. My Contour is alright, but only in well lit areas, the same will probably go for most other cameras.

I'm known for not liking Drift cameras on this forum, but I've just ordered a Drift HD720 in a pretty good deal.

is it me or do neither the contour nor the drift hd camera come with mics? which mics do you use and does it all come together or is it on 2 separate files that i need to put together

They come with internal microphones and a 3.5mm mic jack for an external mic (one that you can put in your helmet)

I currently only own the Hero 3 black edition, I might get the +2 or wait for a new contour.

do you like the hero 3 pros and cons?

Largest sensor of the lot so better light performance (more light = better quality :P) best hardware on board allows you to record up to 2.7k at 30fps.
Small enough for a helmet, compatible with all other gopro accessories and generally is an insane camera.

i use a Veho HD10 i got it because at the time it was £100 cheaper then the gopro 2 and the video quality was the same, but it isn't as good in low light but that doesn't bother me i tend to record on sunny days as i don't have a waterproof enclosure, it comes with a wireless remote to start and stop recording it comes with a vast amounts of mounting hardware as standard.
i've had no problems so far and have owned it for about a year and a half.

i'm currently running a GoPro 3 black..might be not as aerodynamic as the contour or drift but it pays off in post production.
i just use an external audio recorder and then sync up in post.

I have a night test video on my channel...link is below.

13.

I've been using a Drift Stealth for a little over 2 years. Never had a single problem with it that wasn't my fault.

I chose it over the gopro's because it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb (literally) and I wanted something that looked somewhat decent as it was going to be on my helmet permanently. The rotating lens made a big difference too, makes mounting it and aligning the video very easy.

I chose Drift HD because it was on offer at the time and I wanted a camera with a mic port to save on getting a seperate audio recorder, which as I'm always commuting and using my bike all the time, I didn't want extra hassle  I've not had any problems with it. I like the rotating lens feature a lot as I often switch my camera from the top to the side of my helmet or some random place on my bike. Also, at night I switch to Low Light mode and up the exposure and it is quick to do once you're used to the buttons.

If the contour +2 price drops I would definitely consider buying it. For me the GoPro sticks out a bit too much for helmet mounting but I wouldn't mind slapping it on my bike :P

I use a GoPro3 Black. Mainly because during half the year (when its daylight "savings" time) I ride to work at sunrise, then drive back home in pitch darkness. And I couldnt vlog or film anything at night with my old gopro1.

I got a couple vlogs done at night, and it's quite nice - very closely resembles what my eyes can see. If you go to my channel and view any of the latest vids, right on the intro you got a small 1-sec clip of night footage.
