What bike to buy...?

Hi everyone. I’ve been riding for 7 months on my Suzuki VanVan 125 and am looking to get my full license in the next month or two. So naturally, I have been dreaming of a bigger bike, something around the 600cc mark. The Suzuki SV650 is a bike that really appeals to me, has anyone ever ridden or owned one? I’m by no means set on one and reccommendations would be gratefully received!

Thanks in advance :)

My sister had one with the half fairing, she fell off it lots when parking (kept forgetting to put her feet down I think! lol :D
I took it for a spin and really enjoyed it, handled proper nice for the price. A few of my mates also raced them in Mini-Twins.
I do suggest trying a few bikes out before getting your heart set on something as often the practicality of a bike (which is what will keep you riding it) is not taken into consideration and you can end up with a bike you love the look of, but don't enjoy riding.

Sounds like good advice to me, unfortunately as I haven’t got my full license yet I can’t go on any test rides yet. From what I have heard the SV650 is meant to be a really great bike for the money. I wish I wasn’t so bothered about how bikes looked but I know I’m a sucker for something that looks good too aha

I have ridden the sv650 a bunch before I passed my test.

Id say it was a good "big" beginner bike.

It was forgiving yet had enough power for what a beginner/new rider needs. Its no r6 but handles well, goes well and is comfortable.

Id give it a thumbs up.

I only hear good things about the SV650, alternatively I can recommend the Honda CB650F or the Yamaha FZ6 which is what I own. Great power but still manageable and fun to ride while also having long enough legs for a tour. Can't really go wrong with bikes these days if they have Fuel Injection.

Totally depends on what you want to use it for. If you're looking for allrounders, then DL650, Versys650, SV are good starters.

Dude any of the 650 platform bikes are AWESOME (Ninja 650, the SV you mentioned). I've had some friends with a Ninja650 and they all loved theirs. Is there a dealership near you that will allow a test ride - given you're comfortable to ride one. The 650's aren't too crazy as long as you have throttle control/awareness. :P

Getting a parallel 650 like ER6/SV or an inline 600 like 650F/XJ6 or any other bike in that same category is pretty ideal. You can learn to handle the larger/heavier bikes with a decent power and can have some good fun. Some may say get on a 250 but you'll have a longer run with a 650.

Thanks it seems that the 650’s are very popular. I’ll think about test rides once I do my DAS next month :)

@TSR I'm in Surrey - near Weybride - potholes everwhere :(

What did you get in the end?
My first Mid-Sized bike was a Honda CB600R - a 'soft' sports bike. Very comfy as it did not have severe clips on. Also, looked great.

I have done a review on the bike in question. Can be found on my channel if you have not already purchased. Sorry I did not xtach this sooner

Just looked through your whole channel @Mr. G can't see a single video that suggests you have reviewed the bike @TSR has purchased. If I am wrong please feel free to post the link to that video below.
