What’s your video making process?

Hello everyone

I’m interested in finding out what everyone’s work flow is to create new content. What programs do you use? How long does your average video take to create? Does anyone compose their own music for their videos?

After recording I make sure I copy the source materails to a folder for each episode. I use Premiere Pro CC as well as Photoshop to edit and create the videos. Musicwise I look for royalty-free music on sites like FreeMusicArchive or on Soundcloud. I find the quality to be mediocre at best most of the time, but there are plenty of gems as well.

Usually I spend about 4-5 hours per video.

I use Adobe Premiere 15 on the PC or Cyberlink PowerDirector for Android.

It can take a couple afternoons to take the raw clay footage and sculpt it into my vision.

For music, 99% of the stuff is from the attribution free creator resource on YouTube.

I use Filmora Wondershare to edit my vids, I am not currently interested (or able) to monetise my videos so I use music I like and let the artist draw revenue of my vids if there is music in them.
The time it takes all depends on the video I am making, but generally I'll spend an evening editing a days footage and let it render when I go to bed.

Record it. Make a folder on my portable hard drive and dump the footage in it. Open Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 and point that into the folder with the footage in. Then just clip out the bits I don't want. Then add pictures (if needed), sub titles (if needed), music (if needed). Whilst its exporting go into Photshop and knock a thumbnail out.

Upload to YouTube, write description, add links, add to playlist etc.

Before making your video, it really pays to label your raw video files well, that way you can save a lot of time going through the files looking for what you want, in case you have them as backlog and cannot recall what was on which file.

I use Final Cut Pro X. I don't do any fancy edits. Edit time depends on how long the video is going to be. Usually maybe an hour while I edit and watch TV at the same time, for longer ones maybe two hours or more. Mostly depends on how much raw footage you have. If you run like 2, 3, 4 cameras at once then your edit time goes sky high.

I record my videos and dump the files in a folder.

Then import what I need into my editing program - i'm using cyberlink powerdirector.

Add my intro, pics, music and outro then "produce" which is what can take an hour or two!

After which I upload to YT and edit my thumbnail.

All gravy baby! :D

I do use Filmora. It's clean, simple and on a budget.

First upload to the computer, then edit from that file.

Music you have tons of choices. Go on youtube and look for "no copyright music". However, you can use any music you like. You will get a copyright warning from youtube, but that's ok if you are not making money with your videos.

Cheers mate

I used to mess around with FL Studio, but I don't really have the time for it now lol.
I have a whiteboard up in my room that I jot ideas down onto and if I'm feeling extra extra motivated, I can crank out a video in about three days (day of shooting, day of editing, day of final touches/render/posting). I shoot with a GoPro Hero4 as a primary and have a Hero3 but rarely use it (I'm hoping to get a test for some goodness using it soon). I record in 2.7k and down sample to 1080 @ 60. I edit everything in Sony Vegas.

I usually set out with a planned topic but sometimes I just wing it. I almost never have a planned destination or route though. That part is completely spontaneous. Once done filming I'll upload to a "raw footage" file in my YouTube folder. Then I'll load it up in good ol Windows Movie Maker and edit. Once completed, I'll store into a "completed" folder, then upload it to YouTube.

I use royalty free music, and reuse my own graphics (logos, tags etc).

My YouTube folder on my computer looks kinda like this:

YouTube:
>Raw footage (categorized by date)
>Graphics
>Photos (I use this folder for custom thumbnails)
>Audio
>Completed
>Archive
