If you happened to see the Nine News (6pm), you may have seen a story about 'Matt' the Motorcyclist. Who has just been given a $300 fine and -3demerit points (total 12 for our lic.)
The reason "he didnt conforn to helmut regulations, it could have come off and hurt someone" (Hero3)

He is taking the matter to court, so keep n eye on this, ill try n find a Vid of the story and 'try' to keep up with the case.

I just 'tried' to find the Standards of helmuts in Au, but in every state they are different, NSW youi dont need a sticker, in Vic you do. Blaaady blaaady blah.

I do feel for the guy, but i aint taking mine off mee head!! Its NOT a 'modification' nor is it 'damaging' it or making a hazard for others. ( if im 'flying' through the air & hit someone. Think my Fist will do more damage than a tiny camera?)

At the end of the day, having the camera on the helmet makes their job easier. You'd think they would realise that and actually recommend them for all bikers. It sorts out any question of who's at fault in most accidents.
 
Their is a law, for Police+Council(parking dudes etc) that basically says 'an officer can interperate the Law HOW THEY SEE IT'.
So that pretty much means they can make shit up as they go!!
Proll what happened here, o/wise it doesnt make sense.

I wonder do they pull over vehicles with after market spoilers, or taxis with roof signs? They pose as much risk of falling off as does a camera attached to a helmet.
 
This is a load of crap! The Pigs on two whee...er *cough* motorcycle police here in Queensland have Drift cameras on their helmets now, so one must assume it is legal here because our Pigs... Oh geez again, sorry, I mean "amazingly efficient, law abiding police officers" aren't above the law they enforce right? o_O How the hell can there be different laws in two different states that are in the SAME country? I understand each state has its own Pig pen... gaahhh... 'Police force' but why would they have to enforce different laws when we can freely cross state borders? It's almost like crossing into another country. :mad:

Is it me or does it feel like common sense died out a long time ago? What's it going to be like in ten years time?

So, in conclusion, It is a By-law/regulation or some official title, that 'An officer of the Crown, can interperate the Law, HOW THEY SEE IT'.
What that means is, YES they make the shite up as they go!!!!!

Next time they get pulled over and fined for some stupid made up shite, theyll just pay it, NOT fight it, WHICH MAKES A 'Kinda' PRESEDENCE for the other police to issue such a Fine/Punishment to ANYONE!!

Write a template letter to be sent to

a) your State Government with facts about people on bikes and how so few other sectors of society are discriminated against and stereotypes because of the actions of a few idiots and aks them to reconsider their stance using common values: honesty, integrity, objectivity and impartiality

b) your local council (if there is such a thing)

c) your Head of Police

But if you come across as hot and bothered, you may just re-emphasise that these people's stereotype is correct, so it needs to be measured, factual and reasoned.

And I agree that you need a group of people in Oz (or at least in your State) to back you on this, preferably as some sort of Federation. Maybe there is already one - if not, start one, meet up officially at some bar or club, agree a constitution and lobby from a base of authority.

In UK, that is generally the only way things get done iro influencing Parliamentarians to work on your behalf. Not sure about Oz

Well why start a new group when their are SOOOO many groups fighting it now? They just need MORE people to sign petitions, get vocal, write to pollies etc.
