Vlog Fails

As the weather in London was nice today, I was out for a good few hours riding but I didn't have my camera with me so I went home, got it and started recording... Got over an hour of pretty good/eventful footage that I was really looking forward to edit. I got home not long ago and then it hit me... I didn't turn my microphone on... Looks like my second vlog won't happen until the weekend :( Maybe it's a sign, maybe good things will happen... Until then, I am a broken motovlogger :(

*cough* To make myself feel better. *cough* My experience made me wonder, what unfortunate things have happened to you guys that have stopped you from uploading what may have been your best vlog ever?

Ahh double check everything ever before you hit that rec button. Then double check it's actually recording!

I remember having to re-render a video 5 times <s>because I was tired</s> because I'm a retard and kept forgetting the edits I was supposed to make and didn't bother to watch my video through BEFORE rendering (Vegas has a bloody preview mode Idk why I didn't just watch it through on there to make sure it was 100%)

All learned in experience I guess lol.

Definitely an experience thing, soon we'll be making vlogs that need no editing, everything will happen automatically as you're riding haha

I don't think I'll ever reach 100% fluidity in my vlogs because I just talk as it comes to mind and my thought patterns are a little disjointed to say the least lmao. Maybe I'll get better at choosing the cut times though! :P

I've failed to make any vlogs at all recently...

I've been making too many vlogs this week pahahaa. I have one recorded/edited/rendered but it's not going up till Thursday. That means Spartan you'll have to wait till Thursday to see your shout-out :')

recorded/edited/rendered but not uploaded? :( You could upload it now and schedule it to be published on Thursday. But yeah I'm no hurry to see the shoutout, I am in a hurry to watch the vlog though :D

I seee.. I never knew you could do that o.O I should figure that out now then!

Ta for the advice mate!

I once lost my footage, and that put me in such a funk I did not upload anything for a couple of weeks till I felt like messing with it again. I've also had my camera run out of juice, space or just shut down on it's own. Equipment failure / operator error sucks. But you learn to deal with it the longer you do YouTube, at least I did!

Not recording while riding. I used to only record while I was vlogging, but I realized I missed out on all the crazy things I would see when I was just out riding around.

This one is so true, I always hit record now and always have the camera with me just to capture those odd moments.

This one is self inflicted. When I first got my cam I went out riding the footage came out bad...deleted it and moved on. Now a year later I wish I hadn't because it was shoot on my first bike. I'm in the process of seeing if I can recover it off my HD.

I went out last week. First time with a camera on my head for months! I was recording a side by side 60fps comparison of the Drift HD Ghost and Sony AS30V. The idea was to show how much better the cheaper Sony was.

After the first 10 minutes I pulled over to change a few settings around and the Sony had completely fogged up in the lens!! NOT a great way to showcase high quality video!!

DO IT AGAIN!!

ah bugger hey! The way I have my drift set up it is very easy to see my mic cable when I mount the camera so its no easy to forget to attach it - yet ...

You can't just fudge it until the device you want to win, wins :p

No need! Despite the fogging the Sony still came out on top for me. The Drift really wet it's pants under pressure. It's already been ebayed!!

Video is uploading as we speak.

I agree that the quality of the Sony is the best. I have the as100v and that thing takes some awesome video. Even still I have to say that the drift is my favorite camera even over my gopro as well. For me when it comes to vlogs the drift has plenty good enough quality for youtube and I now just use the sony and gopro for other angles.

Although I haven't been able to post anything for quite some time with all the snow, rain, and ice we've been having here. Hopefully I will get a short vlog out this weekend though as the weather is suppose to have a short break of somewhat warm weather before going back into storms next week.

That is the worst haha. I have had that happen a few times, and it seems to be when your best work comes out...
