Video Popularity, and my observations

Now this may seem obvious, but it's still pretty funny to see.
So far, my highest view count video is one entitled 'Ninja 300 Drag race.' Now upon further inspection it is just a motovlog that also features a 300, but they seem to be the key words getting everyone to look in the first place. There havent been any dislikes, and a few likes, but it's always funny how that title and thumbnail can be the key.
For reference, I've got the video below.
Now the frustrating thing, is that the videos I work hard on, one in particular that I've linked below, seem to get no attention at all, even though, IMO they are much more badass that two learner bikes riding along.
If you've had a look at my channel, hopefully you've seen the Jetski videos, which is a big part of what I do, and I really wish I could get the view counts on these videos somewhere near that of the vlogs, without having to use a gimmicky title or the likes.
Here's the super badass jetski video:
Anyways, this is just stuff on my mind, and I thought this would be a good place to rant, because you'll all understand =D

Temporary Citizen out

Take a look at the analytics of the videos, I have a feeling your find the Ninja 300 one has a younger audience. IE the main user base of youtube. Also lots of wanna be riders will look at the Ninja 300 as a first bike, first bike style videos will always get hits.

I did have a Ninja 650r review and walk around video up (gonna do a 18k round up soon) and that hit well over 10k views in a few months simple because people wanted to know about the bike as a first time big bike etc.

Also the Ninja 300 being a new model will also pull in the curious to see how it performs.

Its a case of what the public wants, not what you want the public to want ;)

Have you made sure the jetski video has been posted on all the relevant forums ?
For example, if you shoot the video with a GoPro camera you can post the video on all the GoPro forums.
If you ride a Kawasaki, post the video in all the Kawasaki forums.
Extreme sports forums
Brand of you jetski forum
Etc, Etc.

you both make some pretty good points.
No, I haven not posted the jetski videos in jetski forums, mainly because I couldn;t find any relevant ones at the time. But I'll have a look and see where I can.
I have a feeling the ninja 300 video won't go down to well on a kawasaki forum, mainly because most of the video is just looking at a v-night

Just take your time having a look around on several forums.
Start by posting on the forum of the brand of your camera for example.
I get between 50 and 200 views per forum, per posted video most of the time.
This could give your video a bit of a start.

And of course post on facebook, twitter, email, etc. etc.

and with slightly more than my usual attention span delay ..

watched the jetski vid .. and liked it too!! .. thats a great piece of editing!! ..

i know you said the 'gimmicky' titles irk you a little .. but get the views...

so i was thinking .. you need to still get peoples attention... but with a 'grown up' version of gimmick .. kinda thing ..

this is for constructive criticism!! ..

"welcome to the new age" is emotive for sure .. but bears little resemblance to the actual video or thumbnail content!? .. I understand what you might mean by that name 'new age of lifesaving with modern equipment' or similar ..

a few titles ran through my head as i watched .. "We always train to save YOUR life!" ... "When you nearly DROWN you'll thank us" .. "Life Savers need YOUR support" .. "what we do to rescue children" .. etc etc ..

so anyone scanning titles will notice 'potential action inside' or a google or YT search would hit on save life, drown, rescue, rescue children etc etc ..

which reminds me .. keywords!! .. it clicked in my head the other day while i was trying to upload while YT was broken.. and i intend to go back through my meagre upload list and put a few keywords/phrases in the upload box bit that asks for them .. you could also retro-actively add them in to draw in search engine hits .. 'real baywatch boys' .. 'hard yards in the surf' .. 'airborne jetski' ..

there are also a reasonable number of videos out there with gimmicky titles that also have total gibbering crap attached inside!! .. the ones from the spotty teen trolls that just want the hits for the sake of hits! .. and only other teens with techno-insanity actually find funny!! .. so its not all about the gimmick! ... it is however quite a lot about the marketing! 8-)

Be careful of miss leading thumb nails, as the new system youtube has to sort those can and does get a bad rating, and won't show up as much in searches

Cheers for the tips lads.
The welcome to the new age title was a reference to the lyrics in the song, but it would make more sense to give it something a little more appropriate. That being said, I want it to be seen more artistically than just 'Airborne jetski'
But that's a little too pompous from me, so i might have to go with one of your suggestions!

It's crazy and unexpected what video titles can do, it seems just from my observations that people want to see either illegal racing, life threatening riding or accident videos. I'd take all the advice and points made here and if your vids are good and interesting it's just a matter of time! Good luck and keep doing what you doing!
