Uploading At 720/60

I've been looking at some motovlogs at 720/60 (because my computer can't handle 1080/60) and they look incredibly smooth and it ads a lot of quality to the video.

I usually record at 1080/30 but I can't seem to figure out how to upload at 720/60. Does anyone have any idea how to do this?

What software do you have ? It's all in the software... and the camera . Is your camera set to record at 720/60 ???

YouTube just takes what you give it. If ypu click on settings in the YT player it will show you the available reaolutions for that vid, so look at RJ's stuff, it has 1080/60, 720/60 and then the 480, 360 etc.

If you just uploaded it, you may need to wait for all resolutions to become available as it still works on encoding all available formats after it has gone live.

It's worth checking your video is 60fps at your end, were the project settings in your editing suite set to 60fps, and did you have the export/save settings set to 720p/60fps?

If you did indeed have your final project as a 720p/60fps, then go back and check YT to see if 720p/60 is listed in the options (you may need to be on a computer for this).

You can't make 1080p30 into 720p60.

Ahhhh I record at 1080/30 so I think that's the problem. I did check on my incredibly basic GoPro studio for advanced setting and there is one that will allow me to change the Frame Rate to 59.94 do ya'll think that's it? I can also change the image size from 1920x1080 to 1440p, 1080p, 960p, and 720p.

If you convert 1080p30 to 720p60, all you are really getting is 720p30 with each frame duplicated for no reason. The same is true if you convert 720p60 to 1080p60, all you're doing is making your file size bigger with no additional information in those new pixels/frames.

You need to check the setting on the camera, not the editing software, just to be clear.

You want 720p, 60fps or it may be called NTSC. Which model do you have and someone will confirm the correct settings for you.

GoPro 3+ Silver. My camera has a setting to record at 720/60 but it's currently set at 1080/30. So I think I'll set it at 720/60, record some tests and see how it turns out. Thanks a lot for your help!

Just be aware your computer might want a bit of extra time to render the clips, that's normal for modest machines.

You need to check the setting on the camera, not the editing software, just to be clear

(a lot of times editing software will take the resolution of what the camera has put out in the video file and use that as the default resolution for the video project... that's the only reason I mentioned the software ...)

If you record it at 1080p/60fps then you will be editing it at 1080p/60, no way around that (That I know of). So if your having issues editing it then you would have to record at 720p/60 and uploaded at 720p/60. How much ram is on your computer? Throwing a few extra cheap sticks may solve your issue.

I think if you can tell your editor that the project will be 720, it'll convert the 1080 footage. However, if you can edit in 1080/60 and upload it, it gives viewers more choice.

Nice, your camera does 720p really well, I'd stick with the 60fps. Which model is it?

Only thing I think about 60fps, and this is in general, is that you need to be a little smoother with turning your head as the movement is almost accelerated when at 60fps.

YouTube will always re-encode your video to their liking, so whatever you do will be slightly altered anyways. As for 720 or 1080... I'd go for 1080 .....

It's a GoPro Hero 3+ Silver. Yes I noticed head turns and general moving around is a lot more noticeable, which I tend to do a lot so this might help not move my head so much on the bike. I guess I'll upload some vlogs at 720/60 and see how people respond. I think I'll also try to get 1080/60 but I'm not sure how my computer would handle it.
