Right. This is really starting to piss me off now.

Just recently I've noticed YouTube has been putting UNSKIPPABLE adverts on videos. I'm not talking about the 5-10 second ones, these fuckers are over 2 MINUTES LONG.

We no longer have the option to monetise with unskippable ads. Therefore, these are ads placed by YouTube with all the revenue going to YouTube, not the creators.

How is it acceptable for them to put ads on videos that are double the length of the video? Seriously, I was trying to watch a video 1 minute long and the advert lasted 2:34. Utter joke.

Anyone else noticed this?

I have came across some un-skippable ads, not that frequent, but I think I do recall some of them were pretty long. I'm not sure about the revenue and all that, but if you are annoyed, the solution is install Ad-Block.

I watch a lot of camera testing videos, and it seems one company has paid youtube a fortune to target these kind of videos with their unskippable 2 minute long ads. And creators don't seem to have a choice about this, or see any of the revenue from it. Shady af

Out of curiosity do you use an add blocker. As google/youtube have been experimenting with adblock detection and forced adds to people using adblockers.

No adblocker here. Personally don't agree with using them on YT. Especially if you have a monetised channel (mine isnt monetised but still), it's how you and everyone else earns.

Fair play to google/yt for cracking down on it

The Ads are based on your watch history or related history with google or the search engine you use... Delete your browsing history and cookies :)

If I get any un skippable ads I just refresh the page and its usually gone ;)
