Tyres!

So I need to replace both tyres on my scooter. Front one lasted nearly 15000 kms, and this back one lasted 9000 kms.

But I know diddly-zip about tyres. What exactly should I be looking for or buying?

The scooter is used mainly for commuting and lots of filtering, all year round, can't be bent over too far because the centre stand scrapes and also because I'm an old wimp with no confidence the bike will not fall over.

Ideas and help appreciated.

Cheers all

Have to agree with Dan Michelin is the only brand I'd buy, first time I had every used them, They felt so much different than any other tyres I had used prior. Stick like Glue

Thanks guys, Michelin rather than anything else then. Durable in centre tread for longer life and softer on sides for grip in corners and in wet.

Looks like the Pilot isn't manufactured for the size of wheel I have, but found the attached http://www.worldofbiketyres.com/Documents/Motorcycle-Scooter.pdf which shows the best seem to be the City Grip and the Power Pure SC. Other discussions on the net suggest City Grips. Guess that's what I will be going with unless someone else comes up with something better

I've only ever used the pilots from them. I have pounded the absolute crap out of them from 'progessive back roading' to track days. They take it!

I got about 6k out of them on the cbr 600

Dunlop are crap. I've yet to have one last more than 2k miles. Although, they do stick to the road.

I watch your videos and see you ride in the crap, I'd look at anything pilot wise or anything they suggest is next to it.

Slightly annoyed. My main dealer fitted me a Michelin City Grip Winter on my rear wheel last year, and it's a damn good tyre. Should be at the total price of £100 for one tyre and fitting, with the tyre at half the total cost. So I want to replace both tyres with Michelin City Grip Winter's.

But you only seem to be able to get front tyres for the 120/70*12 now. Which is really weird, because I've got a rear one!

Anyway, I found plenty of front tyres, at c£36, on the web, £20 cheaper than buying from my dealer. But nowhere sells a rear tyre. Except I found one at my dealer at £56!

I'm wondering, though, if Michelin have pulled out from the rear tyre because of problems, although I can't find any information about it.

my friends have used the continemtal contitiwst sports, even i liked the big versions of those and theres dunlop scootsmart friends just got those so id have to tell you what they are like
but as for tyres id love a set of supercorsa sc1s on the cbr for summer :$
