I'm going to do a complete overhaul of the bandit's wearable bits before i go to uni (tyres, filters, bulbs, chain etc) so i hopefully have no need to change them again for a while (mileage should be quite low when there).

So the question is, there are 2 main types of chain as far as i can see, O and X, with a price difference, why? and which is best for general usage?

Cheers,

CB

X - Ring has more contact points to the outer plate of the link. I'd suggest you choose an X-ring chain with renthal sprockets. Now when you say replacing the chain I'm suggesting the sprockets aswell, don't know if you where planning on this or not?

But if you where X-ring with renthal Sprockets about £150 for the kit.

Yeah sprockets too, no point doing one at a time really, i was just confused as to whether there was a specific difference between the two :)

Mainly reliablity, you would go through a O-ring chain faster than a X-ring, but your commuting (i'm presuming) & you get plenty of adjustment out of a new chain anyways so a new one will do you for well over 5k
