Scala Rider G9 + Drift Night mode?
So here's a video I made the other night testing out the Scala Rider G9.

However, I wasn't happy with how the video came out at night. Does anyone have any advice for setting up the Drift HD Ghost for night filming?

Cheers,

Twain (Ausmodica)

So would say yours is great! :D

Re: Scala Rider G9 + Drift Night mode?

I also think that looks amazing. I'm so used to the Drift HD170, where anything less than bright sunlight looks like you're at the bottom of a very deep cave with no light... Yeah, you can't see ANYTHING, even if it isn't actually dark outside. The GoPro Hero2 is better than the old Drift, but is still very grainy at night. I'd say it looks like your Drift Ghost is PHENOMENAL by comparison!

Re: Scala Rider G9 + Drift Night mode?

hmm, it seems the magical youtubes has cleared it up somewhat. When I looked at just the RAW footage, I was seeing a lot of blurriness and artifacts in the darker sections of the video. Cool :). Might still tinker with the exposure. Thanks for the feedback guys!

Re: Scala Rider G9 + Drift Night mode?

Youtube adds a slight blur effect with the Footage. thus making it look clearer, when infact its actually not. The HD ghost i have always gets grainw ehn recording at night but youtube just adds a D-esser or some sorta filter to dark footage that makes it look better. This footage is actually pretty clear,

the step above this is the hero3 at night. but that camera seems to have issues

BMW G650GS review and river crossing.

Re: BMW G650GS review and river crossing.

Thats a fantastic review. I keep thinking of getting a 650GS, and this will undoubtedly help if I every need to make a decision :)

I don't envy you doing that river crossing, though. I've seen how badly wrong crossings can go, and we were using much lighter bikes than the GS :P

Re: BMW G650GS review and river crossing.

Very nice review twain 8-) . That bike looks great. I love the part where you said "this bike is an adventure/tourer and its great for touring and for adventures". Directly To the point :D . sub'd.

Re: BMW G650GS review and river crossing.

Thanks man, so long as you can get your spark plugs out and have spare oil, you should be right. Thanks for watching!

How to lube a chain

in case you didn't know :P

:)

Re: How to lube a chain

I wish I hadn't watched that, now! Sooo much wrong there....

You'll get torn apart for doing it with the engine running on the centre stand. People have lost their hands, and kittens have died and world pollution has increased etc etc etc - personally, give me a centre stand and I'll use it to lube the chain with the engine running. Most people aren't flids and CAN lube their chain like that without dying.

A couple of helpful tips for you, though:

Get a piece of card and fold it in half so you have it bent at a right angle. Any junk mail you get is perfect for this, and usually comes in a nice long envelope. Hold this so it stops your lube spraying onto the tyre or dropping onto the floor.

Also, you want to be spraying the INSIDE run of the chain. Centrifugal force will carry this to the outer edge. Make sure you spray BOTH sides of the inside run - your aim is to get that lube onto the o-ring part of the chain.

And use less! The forces involved when the chain is spinning will carry a tiny bit of lube a long way - anything more than that gets flung off over the bike and the rear tyre.

Re: How to lube a chain

cheers for the advise, while it is dry lube, I do get it on my tyre so that should help. As for using less, I really dont give a shit if I overly use chain lube, it's cheap and easy to obtain. The more the better imo.

Re: How to lube a chain

Awww c'mon...don't be lazy...spin the wheel with your hand lol. It's not difficult. :D So much safer. Also...I'm not sure how much lube is getting inside your chain and to the bushings with the chain spinning around that fast while the bike is running.
