Touchy YouTube Sub topic

Who here has bought YouTube Subs? I think if you have more subs you are more likely to get recommended by YouTube, right? But does this work for you if you have 1000+ subs and no views?

I Tell myself I will not buy Subs, and I will 99.99% stick to that. If I can get the sub numbers I will have the view time to qualify for monetization. Sucks to have no more YouTube money coming in, I'll have to get off my ass and start making content.
 
Guess I'm still new to the concept of buying subs. I generally promote my vids on other forums or social media sites as well as watching other motovloggers work and hope I get views and subs in return.

I know, buying subs just occured to me. I do the same as you, social media and I watch YouTube. When I sub I also look to see which of their vids took off and what is bringing in their views and subs. That's when I noticed some channels numbers are all wonky. I googled buying subs on YouTube because I've heard of this before about Instagram and what do you know selling subs is a business.
 
Buying subs is really not different than sub4sub as far as increasin views.

It might be an option for small channels where they already are beating the amount of content time viewed requirement but do not have the sub count.

The question becomes is there really a reliable marketing group put there that can bring in true subs? I suspect those that use them won't say.

As far as self promotion on different places, if we do that regularly then what incentive is there for the viewers to subscribe? After all, we are handing them the content regularly with no real effort on their part.
 
I personally wouldn't buy subs, but I feel I am getting reasonable growth naturally through forums and facebook. Getting the view time should be pretty easy, I am enough over it currently to feel it isn't an issue and was over it with just 400 subs.

As @R-Rated has said, it could be viable if you were massively smashing the view time, from his numbers I am surprised he hasn't done it as he was doing alright out of the monetisation prior so the investment could work in some cases.

I think I am in a situation where I can post on forums and social media and still draw subs in from that as I only post the relevant videos to those specific groups, which means if they like my content they get a lot more of it by subbing than if they just watch what I post in the groups. Having 2 bikes helps here as does an interest I incorporate into a lot of my vlogs that would draw in non bikers that otherwise wouldn't watch or search for the content I put together.

Yes, @HippoDrone you're correct that I have not bitten from that forbidden fruit just yet. ROI (return on investment) is the biggest hold back and until I find a true online marketing entity with some real people vouching for it, I probably won't go that route.
 
bike reviews do get views, even crappy ones like I have put together.... as do spannering videos.... I am useless with a spanner and often do things wrong, yet folk happily watch those vids, my current most watched videos are me being rubbish with spanners.
 
It’s not a touchy subject. I suspect it goes on all the time.
If you buy subs it will purely be to get to a number. Same as buying views. Once you reach the number nothing will happen. The subs won’t interact most likely and the views won’t increase past where they were anyway.

However if you put in the effort and grow the channel naturally the snowball effect starts to happen. Before you know it you go from 1 a day to 5 then 10. Then the hells angles come to town and your video about a group ride organised by another club gets 1000 views over night.

The first thing you need to do though is make your subs public. If you hide how many I believe most people think you hardly have any at all.
 
Good information. I saw a channel the other day explode because of a giveaway, but as mentioned above, it's just a spike in numbers but interaction probably won't happen, unless it's "HEY, when are you giving away another x?!". Here's to being all natural, haha.
 
There are enough people out there like this, so imagine what you would get if you purchased subs.

I never did any research or fact checking for this, but I believe it doesn't matter if you buy subs or not, YouTube does their clean-up from time to time and if your subs are just bots or something I think they will get removed and you will see a drop in your subs count. So if you did buy a lot of subs and suddenly see your count drop hugely don't be surprised I guess.
 
I don't see the point because if you're buying subs with the end goal of making money off of ad revenue from the 1k sub requirement you'll start off by digging yourself a hole based on how much you paid and you won't have enough actual active subscribers to get you out of it within a reasonable amount of time.

It's crazy too because to retain that user base you have to constantly be doing giveaways and spending a lot of money on getting people in. I can see it getting quite expensive really fast. Reminds me of another post (I don't remember who said it) but it's in regards to the appeal to a specific audience. Giveaways will attract people looking to randomly sub and comment in attempts to win something and just that, whereas someone subbing for content (like dog videos for example) will come back to watch more dog videos. The motovlogger divided videos into categories of "videos for returning subscribers" and "videos to appeal to anyone" or bring in subscribers.

Yeah I was in the same case, One day I received more or less the same comment from a Youtuber, a gammer one, i checked his channel and had 4-5 minecraft videos, so i decided to not to respond his request

If the person is threatening you then you probably don't want them as a sub anyways even if it does make your number rise.
 
I think the best sub is one that chooses to be your sub, but I get being impatient. I started my channel a few weeks before the requirement change.
 
Natural subs are the only ones worth having, all others are worthless. No point increasing numbers by "cheating" the system, if I get low comments on vids I know I have not made a good video. I seem to average around 10% on likes too, so if that dropped, I'd look at what I may have done wrong too
 
What does it matter when a large portion of users are bots? That's be a great YT video, start a channel and your own bot farm to give yourself subs/views lol
