To Intro, Or Not To Intro, That Is The Question

I'm currentlu working on an intro for my channel, because using movie maker is such a paint in the *** to make an intro. The logo you see here on the left (my profile pic) is fully made in paint and paint(dot)net.
No photoshop for me, because I'm a total editing noob, but it's coming :')

intro and outro needs to be short. Basic intro that shows my name, brands my channel and reminds people to subscribe and like with a tag to a subscribe button and off to the video. My outro is simple, catchy music to tie into the actual music used in the vlog and has links to all social media including another subscribe tag. both inro and outro together are roughly 20 seconds combined i believe

My intro is finally finished and it's about 20 seconds long, and it took about 4 programs to make :')
I only show my bike and my logo, no social media or anything.

Yeah, a short intro is great and just promotes your brand. People have covered this over and over, so I'm not going to talk about length.

But content ... that's important. Even a short intro can be annoying if it's too invasive. A quick catchy riff with a logo and pic of the bike is great IMO, but some people get super repetitive or think that a single cool graphic spinning around will carry it for 10 sec. It won't.

So when you make an intro, run it by a few people to see how they feel about it. That way you're getting some external input and you don't just like it because you're proud of your cool 3D logo or whatever. And get input from people that will be honest with you and have opinions.

There is even a dedicated place here on the forum to share your intros and outros for feedback.

whats up guys I had the same issue I knew I wanted an intro and outro and once I got the hang of editing my intro and outro slowly evolved haha my channel is still small and im sure I will be changing that in the future. my intro is just my channel name and my outro has the social media things and a 15 sec clip of my last video

Look up 44teeth.

That's is the PERFECT motovlog intro
.
It's not about making it a show. It's about consistency across all your videos, brand recognition and of course a clear beginning and end to your videos. Anything longer than 10 seconds can go and fuck itself. I would just skip.

I agree with tash, obviously it has to be a short intro but with a good intro you create your own brand

i just take out a clip from the footage I'm working on about 10 seconds and put my channel name in it. its simple and it gets the job done.
I do the same... something funny / catchy from the video then a few seconds of my channel logo and a little ditty... then back into the video.

My old intro was 4 seconds of me all geared up, dancing with some huge cannabis plants with a backdrop of a zebra and kitty climbing frame while stood on a couch, with a lion roaring in the background!!!!! Caption of 'motovlogs, kitties, cannabis'...
The only reason I don't use it anymore is because I filmed it in 760p and because of the way IMovie works if I use the intro it degrades the rest of the video to 760p even if it was filmed in 1080p.

My new outro is going to be me closing my front door and picking up and kissing the belly of the nearest cat I can grab!! I've done it a few times, but like the idea of consistency and change at the same time.

You could have just re-rendered your old intro up-scaled to 1080p.

LOL, kitties.. Cannabis and motovlogs

I like intros as long as they are well done. Not a motovlogger but there is a guy names Bdouble0. I love his editing style and his intros are perfect.

I've been tossing around the idea of making one, but I suck at editing lol

SwiisMotard, I'll try that...although IMovie suggest it will not be happening right now.
RoadSprock it is the magic number of 3 :-) and my videos represent me :-)

I've played with IMovie and tried to save my old intro or make it into a higher quality recording....
IMovie 10.1 would dictate the whole video quality by the first image....I updated about 2 weeks ago and hadn't tried doing the whole rendering into 'theater best quality'.
But, it seems IMovie 10.1.2 doesn't have that glitch like the old one......so I have my 760p intro at the start of a 1080p video and the quality gets rendered in 1080p...

this thread comes up a lot. Maybe there should be a sticky on intro's with examples of good intros and bad intros.
