Seriously about to drop my personal accounts on social media because I can't escape politics! Why can't I just have a stream filled with cars, bikes, and awesomeness

Like I said in my video comment, just unfollow or delete folk that post stuff you find annoying.... it isn't hard to do. That way you will only have nice happy things on your news feed.
